| Las Barbaras Estate | Presentation of my business - From the land to your table

Kind regards to the #Businessactivity community, with great enthusiasm I will give you a brief history of “Fundo las Bárbaras”.

It has five hectares of land located on the outskirts of my beautiful town San Joaquín, in the state of Anzoátegui, Venezuela, which were cultivated many years ago by my grandfather Pedro Solórzano, an artisanal farmer, land rich in water and very fertile where They made the so-called conucos in which corn, cassava, bananas, chimbombo, squash, lemon, sweet potato, beans, tomatoes were cultivated in an artisanal way. These crops were sold in the municipal market of Anaco, in a small vegetable stall owned by my grandfather, serving as sustenance for his family for many years.

As time passed, my grandfather lost his sight to such an extent that he was left with only 30% of his vision, so he had to sell his small farm to pay for his vision treatment, that's when to see My father's interest in agriculture and the countryside decided to sell the land to my father Luis López.

After the land became the property of my father, many years passed without producing due to lack of time, since with the job he had at that time he was only allowed to visit the land on weekends, always looking forward to his retirement in order to do so. dedicate full time to fieldwork. However, the economic devastation that occurred in the country led to the closure of many companies, which led us to make up for a lost time in a treasure that we had thanks to the kindness of my maternal grandfather and that was a little forgotten.

In this way our small project was born, in principle to alleviate the economic situation in our home a bit, we gave ourselves the task of working the land where we planted small amounts of cassava, squash, beans, chili peppers, onions, aubergine peppers, it was clearly for family consumption, which gradually grew until offering a few kilos of our production for sale or on many occasions the barter modality to obtain other products from the food basket.

With the help of God and the goodness of the earth, we managed to build a small house that serves as a seat on the farm as well as a small herd of cows and sheep from which milk is obtained in an artisanal way and which is offered to the sale and is kept for daily consumption.

There are many projects that are in development to continue growing and taking advantage of the benefits of our farm, which will be showing to you in the following publications that we will focus on techniques for the preparation of the land, use of fertilizers, elaboration of artisanal fertilizers, in end several topics of interest.
