How does steemit look around the world?

This is a pilot model of something that I will try to do frequently for the #steemit platform, and it is the use of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for the representation of the data.

¿Cómo se ve Steemit en el mundo?

Este es un modelo piloto de algo que intentaré hacer con frecuencia para la plataforma de #steemit, y es la utilización de SIG (Sistemas de Información Geográfica) para la representación de los datos.

This map has been designed in the free QGIS software for desktop, using as a base an online satellite image from Google Earth (Google Satellite for cartography. You obtain it from QGIS and that's why I can't link it). Also, I have used a vector layer with countries around the world, downloaded for free from hub.arcgis.com.

El presente mapa ha sido elaborado en el software libre QGIS, utilizando como base una imagen satelital en línea de Google Earth (Google Satélite para la cartografía. No he podido linkearlo porque se obtiene directamente desde dentro de QGIS). Además, he utilizado una capa vectorial con los países de todo el mundo, descargada de manera gratuita de hub.arcgis.com.

As you can see from the references, there are two variables analyzed. One is the number of users per country, and the other is the status (active or dormant).

Lighter colors respond to fewer users; for example #argentina, has 6 users and is in the class of between 1 to 11. With a majority of inactive users.

Como pueden ver en las referencias, hay dos variables analizadas. Una es la cantidad de usuarios por país, y la otra, el estado (activos o inactivos).

Los colores más claros responden a una menor cantidad de usuarios; por ejemplo #argentina, tiene 6 usuarios, y se encuentra en la clase de entre 1 a 11. Con una mayoría de usuarios inactivos.

Some clarifications

In another situation, I would have decided to hide some labels to make the map easier to read, because as in Argentina and Chile, due to the size of the geometry, the names overlap. But as the program "decides" randomly which to hide for better reading, at this moment I prefer that they overlap, so that nobody feels that their country has been excluded, since, on the contrary, the idea is precisely to show this global integration that it is presenting Steemit.

I hope that with the passage of time (and hopefully it will be little), this map is stained with the color of this beautiful ecosystem 😊.

Algunas aclaraciones

En otra situación hubiese decidido ocultar algunas etiquetas para facilitar la lectura del mapa, porque como ocurre con Argentina y Chile, por el tamaño de la geometría, se solapan los nombres. Pero como aleatoriamente el programa "decide" cual ocultar para mejor lectura, en este momento prefiero que se superpongan, para que nadie sienta que su país ha sido excluído, ya que por el contrario, la idea es justamente mostrar esta integración global que está presentando Steemit.

Espero que con el pasar del tiempo (y ojalá sea poco), este mapa se tiña del color de este hermoso ecosistema 😊.
