Weekly Report as CR Pakistan and Greeter in Newcomers' Community

The more I do for STEEM, the less it seems. Last week, I individually knocked the doors of many users to improve their social activities on Steemit. I was very optimistic that it will be a fruitful effort. People tend to response better when given individual attention. Sadly, I couldn't be more wrong. Only few users slightly improved by the end of week.

It's the mindset of the users that needs to be changed which is close to impossible. It got me thinking once again that we need real writers/bloggers on Steemit.

Pakistan has a very talented youth and thousands of other highly skilled people but sadly none of them are on Steemit. Maybe a few but the percentage is non-existent.

  • Why Steemit doesn't reach them?

  • Why don't they join Steemit?

New Promotion Strategies

With these thoughts in mind, I have once again put my feet in the promotional activities. I wrote about the issues with promotions here. Keeping in mind that rewards are the strongest USP of Steemit, I will still try not to approach people directly with it.

These are going to be my GOTO invitation lines from now on...

Do you have a thing for creative writing and any other skill? Why not write about it on Steemit? You will get to experience a very constructive social interaction. Wait... That's not it, you might also get rewards from your readers sometimes and as you grow your account you will also be able to give rewards to other authors...

Just like that I will instill the importance of reading, engaging and curating from the beginning.

I already focus on these areas whenever I invite someone, but my invitees are mostly the people I personally know. It's different when you are on the lookout for gems in the general public.

Contests in Pakistan Community

I arrange a contest every week in Steemit Pakistan to bring out the creativity of users. Engagement is one of the core elements of these contests. Results of the previous contest can be seen here ...

I distribute the whole payout of contest post among the winners.

Greeter Report

Here, I will be summarizing my activities as a Greeter in the newcomers' community for the time period 25-08-22 to 31-08-22. I verify the introduction tasks and guide the newcomers from Pakistan and try to cover other countries in South Asia as well. I also verify other achievement tasks that are in English or Urdu.

My Personal Content this Week

Pakistan has been badly affected with flood. Most of the week, I couldn't get time to create content and one of the reasons I didn't apply for Community Curators. Fortunately, we had a narrow escape and are safe.

I was able to create one post during the week which took me days. I am quite happy with the interesting comments that I received on it. It's not an exemplary post but I wish other users from my country to share that kind of content which attracts readers.

Will be back next week with the update on promotional activities.

You do have a difficult task ahead in the Steemit Pakistan community.

Past Country Reps powering down and cashing out rather undermines confidence...

Hi, I saw your comment at midnight, thought to reply in the morning with eyes and mind awake.

We had a major setback in Steemit Pakistan due to unexpected and unfortunate circumstances for some team members. However, they will be back as soon as their personal lives are sorted.

Having said that, Hassan and Haider have not abandoned the community and are doing the daily activities in the background. Just not able to be active in the front.

Steemit Pakistan is here forever, it's just a bad phase which will pass hopefully.

In the meantime, I will do whatever I can to keep the community on track. It's a difficult task which is a little overwhelming for me but I'm up for it.

I'm most concerned about the lack of enthusiasm shown by the community members, drop in content quality and engagement.

After consulting with the founder and admin of the community and getting their go-ahead, I'm now thinking more strategically to overcome these issues and have some ideas running through my mind. Being an optimist, hoping for the best.

If you have any suggestions or recommendations, please let me know. Might help me think more clearly.

As a starting point you will need to review how the community curation account is being used.

@steemit-pak has over 100K SP but only a small portion of its voting power is given to ordinary members of the Pakistan community. A significant amount of the votes go to reward Mod, CRs etc, and another large portion is used to chase curation rewards outside of the community.

If 100% of the voting power is used on ordinary Pakistan community members you may see a significant increase in enthusiasm for posting better quality cotent in your community.

You then need to work extremely hard with every member of your community constructively critiquing their posts to ensure they are producing the very best quality content that they can.

Finally a review of the management team of the community might be in order to ensure everyone is a 'best fit' for their role.
