Contest 4.10: Looking Back/Look Forward #ccc

This contest is about looking back (something you remember), about looking forward to (something you hope, wish or dream for) but you can also write about 'before' and 'after'. That before and after they show us in advertisements if they sell something like dietary supplements or in commercials for cigarettes, alcohol, coffee or jeans. All these items should make you look better, tougher therefore more attractive.
You are never good the way you are. You are a loser, ugly, not modern enough if you don't dye your hair, shave, use the right deodorant, go for a makeover and wear snickers instead of decent shoes. It's not you who wants it all. You don't need it and are not cool or look better but the comercials dictate how you should be, what your needs are and you started to believe there's no better ketchup than Heinz and your life is over if you don't have a new tv to watch soccer matches or the latest smartphone with 5G.
Brainwashed we are by commercials. All this knowledge that isn't knowledge for real but manipulates our own free will and worst of all undermines our self-esteem. We want what others have or we think others can afford and believe we cannot be truly happy and will be accepted without. In reality the road to a better life, feeling better isn't paved by beer, Johnny Walker, cigarettes, Levi's, a weekly visit at the hairdresser or jabs against a virus that isn't a killer and doesn't bring freedom back. That road is a personal one. Paved by what we want for us. Health is a huge part of it and once you lost it you know no supplements, hairdresser, cigarettes, expensive cruise, gadget or ketchup will improve your life and make that road look better. It was all a waste of money. Money you could have saved, used today. Money that would have given you peace of mind since a lot of it is wasted and most memories don't remain long.

Who does not think about his future doesn't invest, will always remain poor!
