When you're busy and not bored, you don't have time to think about how it used to be. You put your shoulders to the work.
Those who sit at home and have nothing to do will get bored and bored people get a bad mood, stop caring, become depressed and do nothing anymore. There they sit among the things they have collected and no, that does not have to be waste. The bored man is useless at that moment. A child is easier to distract. If it happened to me on rare occassions mom told me to clean up my room. As a result, I started playing. When you clean up, you automatically come across something that distracts your attention.
I am no longer bored. I'm happy when I can sit quietly in my room and finally do what I love to do and what I'm good at (no, that's not sleeping). Doing something fun, having a hobby is something to look forward to when you have less fun things to do if it comes to your job, daily lifestyle.
We all do things we don't like if it's just to make ourselves feel better.
Being poor, living small, having no luxury items is no reason to live among piles of garbage and not to keep what you own clean. I see more and more people pollute, but also blame others or their personal situation for it. However, the truth is that they are too lazy to clean up themselves, are not careful with their belongings and throw rubbish everywhere.
When you live like this, there is ultimately nothing to look forward to and yes, you scare other people and the social contacts become less and less.
Keep yourself busy. Set a goal for each day and one for each week. It is good to be satisfied with something, be proud of yourself when you have completed that nasty task (which is part of the foundation of a healthy and good life), because with that your dream of a good life becomes one step closer.
