To write about a musical here on Steemit makes me feel like a freak, kind of. I always imagine all the other people reading the articles here to be hardcore men, who eat spiders for breakfast, and watch three horror movies before lunch. And here I am, sharing my experience watching a musical based on the book by Victor Hugo... No matter what, I had a great time!

My favorite movies are normally comedies or action movies. But, I also like music a lot, and I enjoy a good musical. That is why I have been to the theater as well looking as Joseph and his Technicolor Coat, The Phantom of the Opera, Producers, and some more pieces. I have also watched the movies Moulin Rogue, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable, and quite a lot of others. In general, I love all of these because of the fantastic music.

And then... this morning I was testing a VPN to check if it worked with Netflix in South Korea. As I looked around, I suddenly discovered Les Miserables (the 25th anniversary performance from O2 in London) and The Phantom of the Opera (from Royal Albert Hall in London). I was immediately interested, so I started Les Miserables, and I was totally hooked. It would, of course, be more magical to actually be there in the arena, but the performance of the artists is so fantastic, and when those songs that you know from before show up, the goose bumps show up. If you have never seen Les Miserables, you will still get the "wow" feeling when a song you have heard before shows up and you discover that this is where it was originally from.

Do you remember Susan Boyle who sang "I dreamed a dream" on Britain's Got Talent? Do you know where that song is from? From Les Miserables, of course. And that is not the only famous song you will hear if you look at this performance. Another favorite of mine is On My Own, while Master of the Hosue is more of a funny piece that will bring forth a smile and some good mood.

The history of Les Miserables

The story takes place in France. It was written by Victor Hugo and it is considered to be one of the greatest pieces from the 19th century. We meet Jean Valjean, a man who has been released from prison (after 19 years) for a crime of stealing bread for his starving sister. But, the story also deals with the love between a girl and a boy in the middle of a revolt in Paris, and so much more. But first of all, the musical is about fantastic music.

If you don't have the time to actually watch it, then just looking for the music on Spotify, or by watching this on Netflix in the background (while doing something else) will still give you the goose bumps, and I believe that you will actually feel tempted to stop what you are doing in order to actually watch lots of times. For example, Lea Salonga is a Filipina singer and she plays the role as Fantine in the 25th anniversary performance. She is absolutely stunning. Her voice is so beautiful that I quickly had to read more about her. That is when I learned that she has been the voice of Prince Jasmine in Aladdin, the singing voice of Mulan, and lots of other bigger and smaller performances.

What is the conclusion?

If you are disgusted by musicals, you should probably skip it. But, if you enjoy good music and musicals in general, the 25th anniversary performance of Les Miserables from the O2 Arena in London (recorded in 2010) is amazing.

Where can I watch Les Miserables 25th anniversary edition online?

Would you like to watch it? I watched in on Netflix in South Korea, and that is the only country in which it can be streamed at the moment. But, you can also buy it on DVD and most likely also as instant video from Amazon Video, Apple Store, Google Play Store and more!

What do you think? Have you stamped me as a crazy guy for enjoying the music and this, or maybe you even agree with me? I would love to hear your thoughts!
