Knives Out is the name of a movie starring Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Christopher Plummer, Jamie Lee Curtis, and even more stars. This list is quite impressive, but do they make the movie worth watching?

Knives Out reminds a lot of the Poirot stories, and it also shares some resemblance with the traditional Poirot stories. What do I mean? This is a typical detective story in which a person is found dead, and now the great detective has the task of solving the crime.

The Thrombey family

The Thrombey family is a wealth family, living in a nice mansion, and the father in the house is the owner of a book publisher. The family is gathered to celebrate his birthday and it all goes down quite well (with the exception of some arguing). But, the next morning the old man is found dead. Not only is he found dead, but the famous detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) has been invited to come and solve the case. Nobody knows who invited the detective and why, but he is most certain active from the first second with a grave desire to understand what really happened.

Daniel Craig is playing the role as Benoit Blanc extremely well. He is playing with a special accent, and I have got go say that I would much rather watch Knives Out 2, than the upcoming Death on the Nile movie which comes as a successor to the modern remake of the traditional Poirot story (which is the successor to Murder on the Orient Express from 2017).

Throughout the movie, you always have the feeling that Benoit Blanc stands above everything that happens, and the he sees those connections nobody else is capable of seeing. That makes it interesting, and you really want to follow the story all the way to the end.

You don't really know who did what and why...

That is what I love about this movie and similar movies. You don't really know how the story will end. As a result, you always try to put the pieces together, but you are just guessing. That is what makes it worth staying until the last minute, because you know that surprises will come along and that the super detective will be able to explain it all in the end. And yes, that is true when it comes to Knives Out as well.

What about the other stars?

Ana de Armas is known as the girlfriend of Ben Affleck, and I recently wrote about her in another movie named The Night Clerk. She is the helper of Harlan Thrombey (the old man who dies), and she seems innocent and is a person you can easily sympathize with.

Chris Evans (Captain America) is the son Ransom who isn't really present, and who most people consider to be the black sheep of the family. I wasn't too impressed with his role, but he did his work in a fine way, without being extraordinary. The same can be said about Jamie Lee Curtis.

All in all about Knives Out

If you like the typical crime stories and murder investigations in which there are many turns and some cool twists, Knives Out might be perfect for you. This is Daniel Craig at his best, and his accent and the way he plays the role is amazing.

Knives out score

8/10

For some reason, I didn't love the movie entirely, but it was very close, and I wish there would be more movies like this. It might remind a bit of Sherlock Holmes, just without all the action. This is simply about a detective using his small grey to solve crime, and I love that about the movie! I also love the uncertainty you have and the expectation that grows on your inside throughout the film, making you eager to find out what really happened.

Knives Out still cannot be found on Netflix, so it is quite hard to stream it with your streaming subscriptions. But, you can still found it in Google Store, Apple Store, and in your local Amazon store and more.

Have you seen Knives Out? How did you like the movie? I would love to hear your thoughts.
