Hello steemian, on this occasion let's learn to develop a learning contract, what is a learning contract?

👨‍🏫 Definition of learning contract

A learning contract is an agreement between teachers and students, or between lecturers and their students that contains learning plans, targets to be achieved, and consequences that have been mutually agreed upon. Ideally, this learning contract is made at the first meeting when a teacher meets the students for the first time in the study room.

Some people make this learning contract in writing on a piece of paper then the teacher and student representatives sign it together, then this contract is posted in the classroom so that everyone can read and remember it. However, there are times when the learning contract does not need to be written, but simply agreed upon and implemented together.

💡 Benefits and objectives

Teaching adults is a challenge in itself especially since they are older than I am as a teacher, I never rush to start the learning material before making an agreement with them.

Without realizing it, there will be so many problems that occur when the learning process begins if a teacher does not make a learning contract with his students, therefore the learning contract itself is very important so that during the learning process students can comply with the rules that apply while they are in the study room, besides that the learning contract can also be useful for teachers or lecturers so that during the learning process there are no problems that can interfere with their concentration while teaching.

Although not listed in the curriculum, learning contracts also have an important role in helping students in the learning process. In the process of implementation, the learning contract will also be evaluated, so that the expected goals can be achieved properly.

📚 Components in preparing learning contracts

When implementing learning activities outside the classroom, it is important to make a mutual agreement with the students.

The components in preparing learning contracts by each teacher or lecturer can vary according to the goals they want to achieve, teachers or lecturers usually emphasize the components they consider important in preparing learning contracts.

For example, a lecturer who teaches his students in the first course hour in the morning, of course the lecturer will emphasize the importance of punctual attendance to students so that they are disciplined, unlike the case with lecturers who teach in the second course hour he no longer needs to bother thinking about attendance problems so that he can focus on other aspects.

Before a teacher or lecturer teaches he or she must develop a lesson plan in order to achieve the expected learning objectives, knowing what they need from their students, what makes them feel comfortable and what can make them feel disturbed. So a teacher or lecturer can make their own rules that can support the learning process.
