Attending A Dance Drama Presentation, tagged "DANCE OF THE GHOST" By Theathre Arts Students(UNIUYO), Directed by Dr. Sunday Umanah

Ghosts in whites and reds, colours for death and danger, appearing as an obstruction on every race I took for fear and disappearing right before me—are ghosts for real? Your thoughts can make it a reality. I saw a ghost today; if you haven't, then don't argue till you do. I know your heart skipped a million times; don't mind me; it's just a drama, so don't hesitate to read through.

For some reason I haven't travelled back home as other students did; I had many things to bring to completion. Student life is a stressful one, and as one who has a desire to grow and excel, I have involved myself in many things that will contribute to this. Attending informative and educative events is one of them. Every time I see fliers, I get intrigued to show up for the displayed event. 3 nights ago my neighbour was forced to buy a drama tickets from a friend, she didn't want it to be a waste and she asked me if I will be able to take her place, since she didn't want her money to waste, I got the ticket check the date and it was close, I told her I will see if I can show up, it was a regular ticket, it was on arrival that I discovered that we had regular and vip tickets sold as N200 and N500 respectively.

I really wanted to be here, at least for it to be listed among the occasions I have attended this short break, but there is one thing that I didn't observe maybe because I receive the ticket when it was dark, we have two campuses, it will cost you about N300 to take you from Annex/Town campus to Permanent site, so I didn't observe that the event was held at Permsite, it didn't occur to me either that theathre art student or the faculty of art in general has been move to Permsite, it was a night before that I noticed this, that I have to pay my way down which will cost me about a thousand naira(N1000), five times higher than the ticket bought. I was very indecisive at this moment, thinking if I should go or not; could the free ticket given to me be compared to what I will be spending?.

I made my decisions, I have to be here and here I am, I boarded a shuttle from my school town(very close to my residence), where student wait till it is filled up before moving, I arrived the venue got directed to the faculty of art, recently quality structures where erected here and most student were moved to their respective blocks, I reached the venue successfully, the big flex in front was so noticeable that I changed direction at the spot and followed it position, I got close and the sound of drum and music was so pleasing, they traditional drumming was so perfect, each sounds were blending so well.

If not precise, I arrived around 4pm, and the drama had already started. I presented my tickets, and the ushers tore them as a sign of approval and directed me to my seat, where the regulars were. I took my place behind, and immediately the arena called for shooting a video; the sounds were so rhythmic that I had to pull out my device to capture the moment.

I know those pictures amaze you; I may not be able to tell this story from the beginning because I was caught in the middle.

Two women in the community were speaking of how ghosts have invaded the land and have killed many people, especially those who were royalty in the kingdom of Omura. They came across many ghosts that have scared them, and the king announced that at a certain time of the day, no one should be found outside to prevent ghosts from harming them.

It appeared that the ghosts were after the king's cabinet and warriors who stood by him. Edilan and Mekeni were gossiping about what they felt was wrong in the kingdom. They cited instances and what happened when the former king died; his death led to the rising of ghosts in the village. The reason is because the spirit of the dismissed king's son was not at rest because he was killed by his sister's husband (an evil man; nobody knew he was) to take over the throne.

The return of the spirit was to pay back for the evil that was done by the king, and the effect is to be felt by the entire kingdom. He wouldn't be at rest, sleepless night after sleepless night, reports of an elder being struck dead or a missing child on the way to the stream, and many incidents kept him restless in his tenure.

His plan was to face the ghost indirectly, but through his wife, he pretended to love her but with an evil intention. His aim was the throne; he didn't want the monarchy to continue in their lineage. This decision to face the ghost was after the chief priest was killed by the same ghosts, though the chief priest was not in support of his deeds, but he was struck dead so that he wouldn't find where to seek counsel.

All his warriors died by hypnotism from the ghost's slow, rhythmic dance, and it was now time for the ghosts to face the king; he was the last one left; he needed to be taught a lesson. The queen reached the palace after he had convinced her that she was the only one that could stop the ghost from inflicting the land. The queen took up courage and confronted the ghost in his presence. This led to unveiling hidden secrets right before her, and it was discovered that the king was the brain behind the death of his father, his brother, the apparent heir to the throne, and many others in her father's cabinet.

She slumped, and the king, thinking that she was dead, ordered that the guard should take her away from his presence. They did as instructed; she was resuscitated, and then came behind and stabbed the king. She called for a reunion; this is where she discovered that her brother and his dad's right hand, who was a human, was the one leading the ghosts. He was lucky to escape from his in-laws evil plot and revived the spirit of the other dead warrior to wage war against him. The queen took over the throne by making the right choice of eradicating the evil king (her now-late husband). This is how peace was brought between humans and ghosts.

I enjoyed the stay here; it's been long since I watched a movie on my device, the drama was a good one to feed my eye upon, this was how my day went
