About Benue State Yam
I'm from Benue State Nigeria, the Food Basket Of The Nation as our slogan has it.
It is no doubt that Benue state is home of many if not all kinds of food with different varieties.

The state is indeed unique of her kind , she experiences normal rainfall from the month of April to early October. Throughout this season of rain, crops produces well and yield positive results.
Out of many crops, in today's content I wish to specify on "Yam" (most Benue people's favorite/pride).
Yam, which is botanically known as "Dioscorea" has different varieties (species) and it's good to note that the state has them all😍. It's been planted on heaps.

Planting Season
The late and most planted season of yam in Benue state is around March and is being harvested in November to January. During this time of patiently waiting, most food consumed by the people in the state is yam flour (Amala) guinea corn flour , corn (maize) flour and Akpu (fufu/loiloi) as commonly known.
The people's favorite's arrival
Yam has proven to be the people's favorite in the sense that, during this time of waiting for it, most people emaciates drastically. Around the month of August, people whom I describe as Short-minded people starts digging the heap's sidewards to see how far the yam has been doing 😁, I called from home and I was told they've fully started already 😩🤭
By the month of September, majority if not all those who played yam start eating new yam. It's been a while I perceived new yam's aroma and I really miss it😔. It's mostly eaten first by boiling, then pounded (special) then as time goes on, roasting follows .
During this period of new yam, one can sense the joy/happiness all around even on grasses, birds of the air, animals, infact every living thing. But unfortunately not all animals celebrate, guess you know what that means💁🏾♂️ 🙄.On the appointed day of pounding, no one goes to the farm nor elsewhere in honor of yam

😋.
I remember very well when one of my uncle use to slap the pounded yam, grab a mosel , threw it on the air and grab again, squeeze it three times and ask it "where have you been" 😂 and that season is now.
Wish I'm a better narrator to describe vividly how it's been done nevertheless, I guess all you reading me can imagine the joy/happiness and laughter new yam brings .
I call on all those who have not visited the state before to do so with alacrity during this time and have a memorable experience. I know sir @focusnow, boss @prolee, mentor @kincent and many more of you will be saying you have yam too (watery yam that tastes like cassava🙈) but I bet you will testify truly Benue's yam is UNIQUE ✔️.
