There are a lot of ways people make money online. It could be by writing, vlogs, affiliate marketing, freelance photography, and what have you.

You only find out about them through an advert and the more convincing the advert is, the more likely it is for people to join and vice versa.

The goal for most people is to look for an online money-making job with less work, more pay, and no referrals.

Before joining steemit, I felt that anything that involves referral meant they were seeking to gain a bonus or percentage from me.

Also, anything that involves paying is to join screams Ponzi to my ears. If it pays so much, why tell me to pay to join. Well, my perspective changed in 2020 when I joined steemit.

How I Promote Steemit

My only way of advertising steemit is through WhatsApp. I post in various group chats, a brief introduction of steemit then waits for further explanation in my DM.

I go online to get pictures of promotional fliers and screenshot everything that is to be known about steemit then send it to them.

It's usually a long conversation with a series of questions about how it's been run especially the monetary aspect.

They all want to know how to withdraw and how much it will reach before they start withdrawing from their steemit wallet.

Of course, I don't try to sugarcoat it. I expose them to the advantages and disadvantages of joining and that votes are not guaranteed on the platform.

The idea is to write, engage and comment on other authors' posts. Writing in clear English is highly encouraged for easy understanding.

Here's a screenshot of my convincing my friend to join steemit which she agreed but is yet to join due to reasons best known to her.

Out of 100% I spoke to about steemit, an average of 50% were keen to join, and the other percentage was torn between joining and not joining.

I wouldn't want to force them cause it's not a do-or-die affair here. I'm only showing them a means to an end in they can take up lightly.

So far I've been able to recruit up to 20 new members. Presently, we have three active since this year.

Some were active during the steemit crypto academy period. It was flowing well for them till a few things came up then they couldn't continue.

I tried talking to @felichi to reconsider Steemit which she did and for the first time this year, she has logged into her account.

Earlier this year, I was able to recruit two new users who are actively participating in steemit and creating content.

My challenges on promotion were them being fixated on the money they're yet to make and how to withdraw it.

Most of them didn't want to create content. They just want to make money without putting in any effort to do so.

Also, what hindered some of them from joining is time. For new users, active participation in Steemit is a full-time job.

One of the ways I think wouldn't hinder people from joining is setting up a business center, exclusive to steemit where users will come every day to create content.

Conclusion

Steemit promotion is this one thing that has always been on my mind. My only challenge is that we're not many Steemians within my immediate environment to start this roadside campaign.
