My worst day,A blessing in disguise
Benjamin and I were best friends back then in school. after graduation, we lost contacts I went to serve in Akwa-Ibom state. After service, I relocated to Lagos where I started my life. after several years of hustle and bustle, I got a job, even though the money was Meager, I had no alternative. My father always told me that a bird in hand is better than millions in the bush. In this fateful morning, the sun refused to smile even though there was no rain, I woke up early as usual, but something strange happened. I live in a face-me I face-you compound where both males and females which most of us were bachelors lived together.
I was in hurry to fetch water so I couldn't be late in the office. it was my turn in the queue to fetch, where a young lady came from nowhere and started dragging with me. Initially, I thought it was a joke until she started insulting me. I tried several times to calm her down but my effort yielded no fruit. I knew something was wrong somewhere, in the process of pleading I touched her that was how she grabbed the bucket of water pours it on me. this must be a bad day. I said inwardly, thinking of what to do to this young lady. a handheld me at the back I turn it was my neighbor whose room was just next to mine. in his hand was a bucket of water which he handed over to me, Dayo was his name don't mind her said Dayo as I moved toward the bathroom. To me, I concluded that it was a bad omen for a bad day ahead.
I dressed up, enter okada when I finally reach the junction where I normally take a cap to the office, I handed the man two hundred naira notes, I used to pay hundred nairas but the okada insisted I should pay one hundred and fifty nairas before I could even realize what was going on, the guy zoom off. Many thoughts were galloping into my mind already; what is going on? I said inwardly, how would this day end? I had a lot already. I managed to take a cap to the office.
Inside the bus, I was the second person to have paid the fare, to my greatest surprise, in the end, the conductor tap my shoulder demanding his money. I told him I had already paid even the passage next to confirmed, but the stubborn conductor was warning up already to fight me if I didn't give the money that he did not remember collecting money from me. I said everything I know, for where! Instead, I ended up paying double the amount to save time and a job.
I arrived in the office. My Boss was expecting visitors from one of the top companies in Lagos, he told us the previous day. I resumed work, a few minutes later my Boss arrived and after some hours the expected guest arrived. Miss Lydia who was supposed to address the gust called earlier that she had been held in traffic, so my Boss send his assistant to get my attention to his office.
I knock on the door.....good morning sir
Boss:good morning James, how has your day been?.
James:fine, thank you, sir. I replied politely.
Boss: I called you in my office to inform you that you'll represent the company in the absence of miss Lydia
James:But...bu.......
Boss:No but...I know u can do it, just go fix yourself up. The meeting will be starting in the next thirty minutes.
I left the office confused. How on earth would one give a speech unprepared?, well, I am a professional, I said
Immediately I step into our conference hall I sighted my old-time friend Mr. Benjamin.
James:who am I seeing, 😱 omg, I shouted.
Benjamin:(surprised)James is that you!
We hugged, after exchanging pleasantries.
After the meeting, my boss told me that I gave a concrete speech that he was impressed. The good news was that the contract was awarded. Mr. Benjamin (my old-time friend) happens to be the managing director in a real estate company that our company applied to.
Benjamin:how is life treating you? happy to see you again.
James: well I am happy to see you too after so many years, I am
Trying my best though life has been rough and tough yet we thank God!
Benjamin: After NYSC I lost your contact, since then, I made several efforts to reach you however all prove abortive.
James: I strived, inquired from some of our old friends yet none knew you're whereabout.
Benjamin: Thank God we are here. Here is my number, call me when you are closed from work, we are going to have dinner tonight.
We both laugh and hugged as he bows out. My life changed from that day on.
My friend company offer me whopping figures of 500,000 naira per month with a monthly allowance, an official car, a 3bedroom flat, and free medical care
I left home a sad person but returned as the happiest person
**Lessons**
When God was creating the universe, notice, anytime he (God)was about to create a new thing "nightfall" then the "dawn" this simply means your challenges today are a driven force for your success, victory, and accomplishments. Never let your rough beginning compromises your happy ending.
