Introduction

Good day steemians. How is your weekend. Once again we are embarking on a tour of my town in 10 pictures but this time around it will be something different. Instead of tour of township, let me take you round my town Isuikwuato in Isuikwuato Local Government Area. It is a semi urban area, so I want you to have a look at it. You will enjoy it. See the map below: https://w3w.co/loaf.infuses.enamel

Coming from Okigwe in Imo State our first stop will be at Abia State University Uturu. It is called Ugbaa Junction. Abia State University Uturu (ABSU) is located here. It is where students from different states of Nigeria who wish to study here come to acquire education leading to the award of various degrees, diploma and certificates. Take a look at the University below:

It is from Ugbaa Junction that we shall drive straight to the gate of Isuikwuato High School Isuikwuato. We are at Isuikwuato High School Isuikwuato now. It is one of the two oldest Secondary Schools in Isuikwuato. It is about 65 years old. Schools are on holidays in Abia State so the gate is locked and there is no gateman to open it to us. The school compound is bushy. There is no body to cut the grasses now. I am sure that the grasses will be cleared when school resumes in September, 2022. Take a look at school gate below.

The school sign board is mounted by the side of the gate. You can see it also.

It is a large Compound housing different offices. It also houses some National Youth Service Corp members. Take a look at the picture of Isuikwuato Local Government Area Headquarters below:

We shall connect Akara Junction from Isuikwuato Local Government. We are at Akara Junction now. It is quite busy today and it is because today is a major market day. The major market is called Orie and it holds once every 8 days. It's not as busy any other day but there will still be shops and businesses that will be open for travellers on ordinary days. Take a look at Akara Junction today

Less I forget, Akara Junction leads to other major towns in Abia State. You can travel to Alayi, Item and Igbere in Bende Local Government Area, Abiriba, Mkporo, Ohafia, Arochukwu in Ohafia/Arochukwu Local Government Areas and Akwa Ibom State. You can also go to Umuahia, Aba, and States like Imo and Rivers etc.

There is also a new private school that has just been established at Iheokwo, Ahaba Imenyi less than 1 Km from Akara Junction for nursery, primary and secondary classes. It is called Soleil D'Afrique International Academy. Take a look at the school.

At this point we shall drive to Ovim Isuikwuato. At Ovim we will go to Amuzu Ameke to capture in camera the ancient arts gallery called Ekwuruibe. We are there now and we can see painted sculptures of colonial officers and missionaries moulded on walls. It is how their great grandfather's kept memories of their encounters with the colonial fathers alife. It is their culture. Take a look at the picture below:

From Amuzu we came to the palace of the traditional ruler of Ovum at Ohoro, Ovim.
Take a look at it below.

Finally we drove to Ezere Isiala Ezere Autonomous Community to see their Community health center. Ezere Health Center is a project executed by the Abia
State Community Poverty Reduction Program (ABCPRP) . It is the first port of call in the village for the treatment of minor ailments. The center is very important for the villages. Take a look at it below:

That's right. Akara is our "Singapore" and the busiest Junction that connects the hinterlands.

You did a great job and the post is very educational. Thanks

It is developing fast. Businesses are sited all around Akara. It is strategic. It is the only viable daily market in Isuikwuato.

It is strategic

That's right. It services more than the immediate area.

You are correct. Have you been to Akara Junction?

Have you been to Akara Junction?

Yes. Many times.

Yeah, his town is really good and I love the way he made it's direction to be very easy for us all to locate.

Soleil D'Afrique International Academy

I like the name of the school which translates to "light of Africa", I hope they will be able to offer qualitative education and sound morals to the pupils and students.

It is how their great grandfather's kept memories of their encounters with the colonial fathers alife. It is their culture.

I also like this Ekwuruibe art gallery. Having something like this in our communities will help teach us not forget our history and culture.
Thank you for showing us your town.

Very true

Aba is really a good place to live just that the people at the head ate making things miserable for us all.

Wow, first time of seeing what Abia state University looks like, I'm sure they ain't on strike since its a state University

Thanks for showing us round your town Mr @chikaeli

They are also on strike. This is the reason we could not capture many people at the gate.

Ooohhhhh, but it's a state University nau, I thought the strike is meant for only federal universities. That's pretty bad

ASUU is one body. It protects the interest of both academic staff of both federal and state universities. State universities have benefited so much from ASUU struggle in terms of infrastuctural development, salary enhancement etc To improve their universities infrastructure, staff welfare and development they should be part of the struggles. Without it state universities will be glorified secondary schools.

Ohhhhh that's right but this body should try to do something concerning this strike, it's eating us up especially the students

The worst is that the university was in arrears of salary before the commencement of the national strike. It has made resumption difficult

Chai, something should be done about this ooo else ..............

Hello @chikaeli,

Thanks for publishing on Steemit. You have taken us on a tour round your city, the busy junction, LGA headquarters as well as the community health centre. I have surely learnt about this places courtesy of reading this publication.

Thank you

I enjoyed the cruising round your town. You've taken good pictures and backed them up with nice descriptions. I will keep visiting your blog.

This tour is interesting but i was about to be scared thinking is masquerade. Untill i checked well and it was a palaces of a king.I have not been to bende.so this road leads to bende and so many others.

You know Bende Local Government Area is large.lt leads to a part of Bende, that is, Igbere, Alayi, Ugwueke Ezeukwu and Igbere

Thanks so much for taking me round isiukwu ato. The truth is that I like those places. Most especially, the house of the village Head. Some village head's have ugly buildings. Weldon and keep making quality post.

Thank you

Could that be for a real , such as akara junction . Though not bad at all , nonetheless you have a kind of quite beautiful captured. Thank you for sharing.

It's real. Every picture here is verifiable. Someone here who knows the place aptly described it as "our Singapore". It's apt
