I'm glad to take part in this contest today. I just got the info from surfing and commenting on posts and I was like; Where have I been all this while writing only diary and not partaking in contest. Here I come. I will write to stupor.
Hello my fellow steemians. I hope you are all doing good. If you are Not a Nigerian, you will learn more about where I reside, and if you are a Nigerian and not living in Abuja, same is applied, but if you are in Abuja and you've not being to KUJE, this would give you an insight of Kuje and it's environ, perhaps, you might like to pay me a visit one day. Lol
About Kuje
Kuje is a very big part of Abuja situated in the southwest. Basically, it is 40km from the main abuja city. Kuje has a local government area headquarter. It is an area council well recognised in the whole FCT. In case you don't understand what an Area council means, I would explain how it is understood in Nigeria.
Nigeria has 774 local government areas, of which each local government is responsible for managing and responsible for the runnings of businesses, organizations, Schools, Hospitals, and so on. The Chaiman and councilors are those at the helm of affair. The chairman is in charge of the Local government, while councilors from each wards are responsible for their wards and the area they capture. We can liken this to the federal and state government where the state government report to the federal government. So we can say the organogram is as follows.
Now let's look at Kuje in ten pics (First edition)
Kuje area council
As mentioned in the content above, the Area council houses the people managing the affairs of the community. Just as we have government offices, the area council is the local government office.
Kuje area council
It is called Secretariat, so This is the Kuje area council secretariat located in the heart of Kuje. It has countless workers, and many youth coppers serving the Nation.
Kuje Market
This is considered the biggest market in Kuje. It has several blocks occupied by traders. There are some stores still vacant and many on construction, but most sellers prefer to rent a small space and display their goods.
Traders displaying their goods within the market premises.
Part of the plazas in the market.
When I say prefer, it's because they cannot afford the shop rent inside the market considering the petty goods they are trading. Some are not even allowed to display their goods inside the market if they are not part of a particular association. I got to understand that when I met some set of people chasing a woman away from the spot she displayed her fish because she doesn't belong to any association in the market.
They carried her goods to the office. That was all I saw. I never knew what later transpired. However, the Hawkers are never disturbed if they didn't stay in a sport over a period of time to sell their goods. You can get anything from Kuje market, but don't go and look for a human skull or other parts. Smiles
Total filling station
Total filling station
Total filling station is located at Tipper garage, Kuje, Abuja. When you are coming from anywhere in Abuja and you tell the driver you are alighting at tipper garage or Total filling station, they won't take you beyond. But still, dot hesitate to remind the driver because they might not put your problem in your head. Such disappointment happen well in Lagos where people pass their bus stop after telling the driver where they want to stop. Abuja is not an exception.
AA Rano filling station
AA Rano
The AA Rano filling station is the bus stop of 98% of taxis conveying people to Kuje, which makes it more popular than any other filling station in Kuje. Total filling station is at tipper garage, but if I want to give anyone coming to visit me a proper description, I would tell them to drop at tipper garage of which Tottal filling station is located there. But if it's inside Kuje, AA Rano is the best description. Come to Kuje and tell anyone you are at AA Rano, you will see them within a twinkle of an eye.
Government Girls Science Secondary School, Kuje, Abuja
Oh! This is not a visiting period, I would have scattered everywhere with images of GG students in this blog. I have a sister in senior secondary 3 and we always go there at the end of every Saturday of the month to visit her, which s their visiting day. People are not allowed to enter except on crucial or important occasions.
GG is a day and boarding secondary School only for science students. Their population is overwhelming, and they are very intelligent set of students. They are well scrutinized before admitted so what do you think? Any day we go for visiting, I will take countless pictures and write about the visiting. However, manage the front view I captured for the sake of this contest.
Kuje police station
One of the places I hate going is the police station. I had several encounter with the police force and I dislike hanging around them either as friends or as companion to anyone having issues with them. The Kuje police station is located along the main Kuje road not far from an eatry I would describe in a moment. It is also like 3 minutes drive to AA Rano filling station with neither hold up nor go slow. It's the biggest and the head quarter of all police stations in the suburb of Kuje.
The only time I entered there was when a man (I call him fellow because he's a kegite) had issues with his tenenat. I was in his house settling the matter before the police came and arrested his tenenant. At last, we settled the matter, but the encounter I've had with the Nigerian police in the past made me detest them to the brim. (Story for another day). Of course, the police are trying, but the corrupt ones have infected the mind of people and the entire police force are classified as same. No wonder #endsars rocked Nigeria.
Sajuma plaza
If you like eating or you are considered a glutton, Sajuma is a place you can eat and burst your tommy, but it's not free, so don't think of running to Kuje because of Sajuma. I can say categorically that it is the newest eatry in town where you can get anything you want. I've bought things there a couple of times, but I've not come across Lizards, warms and cockroaches.
There are some Chinese restaurants that sell that, but I don't think Sauma has them in stock. Apart from those, you can get any eatable food there. Thay don't sell snakes too pls. Just order for chicken, fried rice, white rice, turkey, beef, pizza, burger, and all Nigerian local dishes. Amala is superb. Just try it.
United Bank for Africa
UBA is a new Bank in Kuje. They started operation like 3 months ago. Before the came on board, only two Banks were operating in Kuje; First bank and FCMB. Their existence eased the queue on the the ATM as people gather to withdraw. UBA is located on the same road as the police station and Sajuma. In fact, you will see the mighty building by the right when entering the market road from Tipper garrage.
Assie hotel
The right turning by the left at Tipper garage is the road that leads to Assie hotel. Their hospitality is fantastic. They accommodate all kinds of people without segregation as far as you can afford the services they provide. The hotel has many rooms where people can lodge, and there is a big bar for relaxation.
The school for children with special needs
This is a school for the disabled, situated along GGSSs, road in Kuje. People with disability are cared for here. They are also trained educationally and in other ways that would benefit them to be useful to the society. People with disability should not be rejected. They are also intelligent. I love what they are doing in this school.
Conclusion
These are some of the places around Kuje. If I go farther, I would take more astonishing pictures. I will be focusing my next entry on Kuchiyako area of Kuje.
Thanks for staying with me on this.
This is ckole the laughing gas
