THE CONTINENT OF AFRICA

Here is Africa, a continent blessed beyond human imagination. A continent whose potentiality lies within and the greatness of it's strength planted amongst nations of diverse culture bound together with Unity and love.
Africa the second largest continent of the world, is the most blessed continent in terms of Mineral Resources, human and natural resources. But at long last what have we to show? What can speak and tell the story of greatness as a tale of continuity on behalf of our already-tired-lips? Underdevelopment.

WHAT WE GOT WRONG

Wonder what got Africa into this? Actually there are many contributors to the problems faced by Africa. It ranges from our way of thinking to how we carry out the things we do.

  • Africa has been left behind because she refused to invest and plan for education from morning now it is daytime. We all know what poor education can cause to the multitude, failure in the education sector means doom in the future. E.g. imagine a situation where by facilities ain't sufficient for proper practical and adequate knowledge acquisition, a situation whereby students are not acquainted with the facilities at the end of the day they are labeled graduate giving them license to go into different fields to serve humanity, such student becomes a quack doctor, engineer, lawyer and then occupies a space of a professional in this case justice is not serve, people life is lost due to inadequate training before becoming a doctor, buildings collapse and endanger peoples' lives and the whole nation becomes a cycle of quackers. This is mostly observed in West Africa to which Nigeria belongs.

  • Africa has swept the value of her youths under the carpet. The future of course lies with the youth but the continent is being handled by gray hairs from unit A to Z. These gray hairs think the youths are not good enough to take responsibility, but I bet if a little chance is given to the youths, then dreams'd come true and then we wouldn't have to be running the continent in an old fashioned style.

  • Poverty has eaten Africa like insect eating sugar. The highest rate of poverty in the world exists in Africa, this is a terrible record which has gone on from time past and seems to dash all hopes. How sensible does it sound that the most blessed continent has the most poorest number of people in the world? It isn't a comedic topic that we have closed our eyes and also turn our back on circulating wealth, and utilizing our resources in the right way and at the right time.

  • Leadership, the origin of Africa's struggle can be traced back to bad leadership... If I didn't mention this then probably you wouldn't have believed me. Yeah, it's no longer a trend that bad leadership is Africa's most dangerous threat. Her true born had gotten away with it again, our leaders are citizens of our dear land but forgets about this whenever they get to the point of leading. They loot as professionals, and discriminate as if they ain't from the same country as their citizens. Our leaders seem to see themselves as gods therefore they can't be questioned by anybody. The tend to forget the rule of law, that no one is above the law irrespective of rank, office, background or ethnicity.

SOLUTIONS TO SOME OF AFRICA'S PROBLEMS

It is said "if you can't suggest ways to solving problems, then don't sit back to blame others." I won't sit back to blame others nor point to problems without trying to at least state ways of solving these problems.

Our leaders know where our problems come from, they know they are our problems but they won't help us out of it. Instead they will bring on Programs and state ways to execute problems but at the end of it all, it becomes a history.

  • There are good leaders amongst us, but we tend to go for those who splash billions of dollars to motivate us during election. This is a wrong way of voting a good leader.

  • In West Africa, educational qualifications don't matter at all. We vote for those who promise to build roads, as if roads are yardstick for measuring good leadership. We should stop this, it's high time we get educated Representatives who would understand what leadership means.

  • Education has collapsed, the buildings, the facilities, and infact, the whole system has been downed. Unqualified teachers shouldn't be considered, facilities should be frequently updated, teachers should be paid on time to motivate these teachers.

CONCLUSION

Your article caused me to shed tears because, our continent is faraway from progress. Our growth is stunt and it's like there is no hope for the children of the future generations. I wish our leaders or rulers will work hard to amend things now. But, unfortunately, they can't.
