Hi friends and everyone in the platform, welcome to today's engagement Challenge it is another day for another Important show of class between fellow steemians.

Today I am dropping my entry for the engagement Challenge post, the post will be focusing on the way I promoted steemit in my City and around me, the method in which I applied to get through my aim, the problems and discouragement as well as ways to handle or eradicate discouragement and also execute the problems in a decent manner.

THE METHOD I USED FOR PROMOTION (SOCIAL MEDIA).

Social media is a platform where you can find millions of people, the number actually exceeds that of the society especially places like Ifa Atai. As we all know that social media is a platform where people from different parts of the world come to associate, converse and make International relationships thus, I find the social media a very legitimate place for promotion.

FACEBOOK: I am so familiar with my friends on Facebook than any other social media platform aside from Steemit, however that didn't stop me from telling others whom I am not acquainted with, in one way or another I have been able to convince my aunty on Facebook about steemit, I was able to get the interest of a friend still on Facebook.

MAKING USE OF PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL
It is not a new picture to the eye neither a new song to the ears that when we share a link on Facebook it shows a preview of what that site looks like. What am I saying - if you have a professional manner to approach a person with good and decent communication skills you get the attention faster than even trying to make use of branding materials like flyers and banners. However, flyers are distributed when time is against the promoter hence, the flyer make way for time negotiation by helping the person read for him or herself. So I don't use flyers online, I communicate with people and make way for him or her to also express his or her thoughts.

HOW PEOPLE RESPONDED TO MY PROMOTION EFFORT

Promotion is not too easy on Facebook, but once an opportunity is grabbed it is always a never ending progress. I have had some tough experience trying to let the news out to my friends on Facebook but at the end there have been a lot to smile about.

Firstly, I didn't find it easy convincing my aunt on Facebook about the benefits and requirements to start steemit. She was kinda objecting everything I said, I needed to improve on my mode of communication. I had to tackle her excuses, quench them and made sure I neutralized her points of argument. She wasn't ready but I didn't care less about what she was saying. This was her excuses:

• Data.
• Time.
• What to write about.
• Going around to get pictures.
• And earning.

When she complained of lack of data I assured her that I will help her out with the Data issues, so that after she had made some money on steemit she can fund her data requirements for herself.

She talked about time, I told her it doesn't require too much time to make post. I told her she could use 30 minutes to make post. Sometimes I use my note to write post before transferring to the phone. In addition to that I told her about our training.

She asked what to write about, I told her she could write about anything just needs to have some experience with her phone.

Going around to get pictures, I told her it's not a big deal... There are pictures everywhere but she can write with the pictures on her phone and even Sunday pictures.

Earning, she asked me about the earning if am sure of it. I told her about my own earnings and she was okay with it, now at the end of the discussion I sent the steemit link to her to check the site and return to me after that I can go to her house to help her sign up and write her Introduction post.

CHALLENGES THAT HINDERS USERS FROM JOINING STEEMIT

1. Other Influence: Some users find it difficult to accept steemit because some other sites had failed to prove themselves.
2. Not well educated: Some users are not good enough when it comes to writing. Hence, they don't feel the need to sign up and join steemit.
3. Illiteracy: Some users do not even know how to read and write they need a whole lot of training and time investment to understand how to read and write.
4. Lack of Smart Phone: Some users do not have a smart phone or Android phone.
5. Lack of time: Some users lack time, some users don't have enough time to participate in writing and engaging so they will always make excuses and refuse to join.
6. Network and Location: some users that are based in the village, they will likely be having network connection problems.

HOW I CONVINCED PEOPLE TO JOIN
Presenting steemit to people is not really tough but the process of making them join is the hardest experience in Steem Promotion.
I had talked to Brodah Emmah on Facebook about steemit but he couldn't believe it until I showed him my alert that I wasn't a joker. Same with my aunty I had to tell her about the withdrawals I had made in recent times before she accepted to give a try.

In my observation people in Nigeria will gladly jump to sign up because of the money involved, they are always motivated to make money.

THE CHALLENGE I FACED DURING PROMOTION
There are few challenges I faced during promotion, there are some that hugely discouraged me and I felt like withdrawing from the Promotion but I had to put more effort to get people to know steemit.

I made a post on my Facebook timeline but I had no like nor comment, since yesterday and now I am confused if people even see the post I made. That is the main reason why I went to inbox my friends and inform them about steemit.

SUGGESTED WAYS WE CAN OVERCOME CHALLENGES TO STEEM PROMOTION
We can overcome Challenges in the following ways:

1. Give-away Program: Give away Program can help users promote steemit to thousands of people in different locations in Uyo (My City), for a example we know that Nigerians are great lovers of music and entertainment. If we organize a monthly giveaway program in different locations in Uyo where there will be a free data for everyone to sign new users while the music will do the calling as people will follow the sound of that music and will wish to know about steemit coupled with the fact the we have our fliers and banners present.
2. Intensive Weekly Training: weekly training is a process where old and new users gather to train people and also learn how to do better at Promotion day, it will concentrate on preparing users against the Promotion day, it will also teach people how to eliminate shyness during Promotion day.
