I DIE KNOWING YOU ARE HERE by ebedossantos

I die knowing you are here;
As I lay combing what hairs remain
On my former skull,
I am at peace under the mirror,
And your eternal shadow beside me.

It was you who taught me forever;
Though you did not live to see it.
You blazed too brightly.
I always knew your light lusted after the sun.

There'd been no lamps to draw eyes
That night behind the maple tree.
What lies we told that day
I'll never remember;
Only the sound of your tongue
Prying my soul for prayers.

It was I who learned forever;
Now I too will cease to know it.
My dull luminance could last lifetimes
But who doesn't get tired of dim things.

It's a fine thing to unearth dreams
When all things rehearse death under moonshine.
But with time, my arm has grown weary-- I pale.
Alas, you whose shadow never fears darkness
I die knowing you are here.
