Today, I'll be writing on the population and its effect on nigeria.
Nigeria is a west African country that shares border with Chad republic, Niger, cameroon, benin and golf of guinea.
Nigeria, whose motto is unity and faith, peace and progress, has 36 states and it's federal capital territory at Abuja. Lagos is the largest city in nigeria and Africa at large. It is a multi language speaking country with English language as the original means of communication.
It has 250-300 ethnic groups with igbo, Yoruba and Hausa seen as major ethnic group.
Nigeria is the 32nd largest country the world and is named the 7th most populated country in the world and 1st in Africa.

I'll be sharing my knowledge on the causes, effects and remedy of over population in nigeria.
Here are some causes of over population in nigeria

1. Low level of education in family planning and increased birth rate
Nigerians refuse to adhere to new laws that teaches birth control measures, thereby giving birth to plenty children because of old believes of their ancestors.
2. Male child preference
Male children considered as head of a family.
Is another cause of over population because following the above believe, parents tend to give birth more in search of a male child.
3. Immigration and Emigration
The movement of people from one country to another in search for better life is another cause of over population.
4. Cultural influence
Respect for ancient laws causes over population.
Some law States that every family should have atleast 5 kids and this law can result in over population.
5. Medical care improvement
The emergence of modern medical facilities has helped boost over population because more lives are saved in hospital as compared to the ancient period.
Some of the effects of over population in nigeria nigeria include;
1. Unemployment
Unemployment is one major effect of overpopulation.
Job vacancy is reduced because of overpopulation and that makes boys go into crime.
2. Depletion of natural resources
Natural resources like animals are consumed at higher rate because of overpopulation and in years to come, this animals will go on extinction which is as a result of over consumption.
3. High cost of living
The expansion in the difference between demand and supply, prices of food, shelter etc are on high rise which is as a result of overpopulation.
4.Poverty
The rate of poverty in nigeria is increasing because of unemployment and that's as a result of poverty, which is one cause of crime in nigeria.
Since unemployment is emmenent in nigeria, some measures are been set in place for government to follow in other to reduce overpopulation.
1. Education
Education should be given to the mass in on the problems that can over when a country is over populated and child birth control should be taught.
2. Empower women
job opportunities should be given to women to keep the occupied thereby controlling child birth, and this can remedise overpopulation.
3. Restriction of child marriage
Child marriage should be restricted in nigeria in other to control overpopulation.
Child marriage encourages early birth which is one major cause of over population and it should be banned.
At this junction, I think I given light on what overpopulation is covering both the effects, causes and control.
But in order to maintain a good country, we should all work together through understanding the above and working with it.
