At this time of the weekend, it is my pleasure to welcome you all to my Blog, how have you been doing, I hope fine. I am much concerned about housing for all by the year 2030, that is why I am participating in this contest. Many governments have come and gone with promises of good housing for its citizens yet many are not benefiting from those promises. Let me tell you a bit of how housing is being managed in my area and who owns this mighty edifices.
WHAT ARE TWO COMMON HOUSING TYPES OF YOUR CITY AND WHAT MAKES THEM UNIQUE AND PARTICULAR TO YOUR CITY
The name of my city is Lagos State Nigeria. Here in the state, we have different Local Government Areas, with so many housing estates owned by the individual citizens. Because there are no free homes or Mortgages from the local authorities, many resort to buying lands from local communities and building them on their own. Mostly common in my area are different personal efforts that individuals build on their own and are occupied by themselves with their families. Let me share some of these with you here.
These buildings are very unique because of the architectural designs and their finishings. You can see their paintings and colours and the styles. Most of them are mainly storey buildings of 1 or 2. They owners choose this styles of building because they want to utilise the space available and also build for more people to rent and live in there. Also people built and live in bungalows with so many modern amenities put in place ranging from the tiles, kitchen and palour designs. Entering inside this edifice looks like a mini-paradise so to speak. They usually built security post's at the gate because these buildings are all fenced round to maintain security. They are indeed all magnificent as the pictures below speaks volume.
When an individual buys a land from the original owners of the said land, they build it all by themselves and live there.
HOW DOES THE COUNTRY/STATE CONTROL THE HOUSING SECTORS OF YOUR CITY AND ARE THERE ANY BENEFITS
Where I live, the government also have authority over the lands people built for themselves. There is "Land Use Charge", a fixed amount of money paid yearly to the government by every house owner. The government tags each house and the owners pay for occupying those said buildings despite they built them personally.
There are some benefits from those money paid as it is also being channeled into securing the said apartment. Failure to pay those dues yearly, the house will be seized by the government after several warnings for them to comply. So many Landlords comply and pay those dues yearly. Those money taxed by the government are also used for road construction and maintainance in the state.
In some areas too within the state, the government built houses and people buys them from them after processing its documents. We have some Government Reserved Areas (GRA) that are fully controlled and maintained by the State Government in Lagos State.
HAVE THERE BEEN ANY HOUSE COLLAPSE/FELL DOWN IN YOUR CITY, WAS IT FATAL, MODERATE OR MILD AND HOW WERE THE VICTIMS TAKEN CARE OF </center
This incident happened recently in Lagos this November 2021, where a 21 storey building collapsed and over 22 persons were feared dead.
HOURS after the collapse of a 21-storey building in Ikoyi, Lagos, new evidence from a letter circulating on social media suggests that the disaster could have been averted.
About 50 people are feared trapped in an uncompleted building that collapsed around 3 pm on Monday, at 20 Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, according to a CNN report.
Hours after the collapse, hundreds of people were seen around the site, helplessly digging through the wreckage by hand to remove slabs of concrete in a heap.
There were rescue operators struggling and working hard to bring people out of the trap and nine people who survived were taken care of by the emergency department services and many other constructions workers were still trapped in there.
Housing in my city is a thing of beauty as new buildings are being erected on a daily basis and those finished are either rented out or are being occupied by their owners. Below is a facility that was just built 2 years ago and tenants are already enjoying there as their new homes.
Thank you so much for your patience in reading through my city tour. See you in my next article.

That's marvelous. If the materials and construction operations are superb, your city will be great!

Your post is very accurate.... Lagos State is one state with beautiful edifices. To bad for the owner of the collapsed building . I believe other construction companies will learn to follow correct plan. RiP to those that died.
