Introduction

On behalf of the SteemALive admin and leadership, I write to apply for the community support program from the Steemit team for SteemAlive community. We were indeed excited to be picked for the community support for the month of August. The 3 posts submitted daily to booming has gone a long way in helping to support our members. We also eagerly hope that our application for this month of September will receive a favorable consideration from the Steemit team. First of all, here is a little about what we do

The Purpose of SteemAlive Community

The purpose of SteemAlive from day 1 is to recruit, mentor and support newbies. When we started, we explained that we will explore all avenues to create awareness for Steemit and bring in everyone that would like to take advantage of the opportunity. We are one of the first communities on Steemit that are fulltime into Steem Promotion in Nigeria.

True to our words, we have produced the most valuable members of the Nigerian community on Steemit. For example, the country representatives - @ngoenyi, @whitestallion were recruited and mentored by SteemAlive. We have also produced Cryptoacademy professors such as @alphafx, @reminiscence01 and @awesononso. One of the best Nigerian Students of the cryptoacademy @beckie96830 was also recruited and mentored by SteemAlive. This truly shows that our unque purpose of taking Steemit to every Nigerian door has produced exceptional results.

Our Unique selling point is that every Nigeria wishing to join Steemit has SteemAlive as a community they can call home. And when they come and see hundreds of other Nigerians already on the Platform, they really feel at home.

SteemAlive Community Team

We started the community with some members, a few of whom remain active. The leadership structure has not changed much. We have the following as the leaders of our community

All the members of our community leadership are Nigerians. English is our official language and most of us speak one local dialect or the other. Among the team, we have @samuel20 and @ninapenda who are paid fulltime staff at the Aba center. They are dedicated to recruitment and mentorship activities for the community. They also make posts for the community. Because of the importance of their work, they have the community posting key with them. The city Coordinators ideally have their posts submitted to booming at least once in a week and have at least one other post voted with the trail. Our community keys are securely backed up in physical storage devices.

Community Curation account

We built a community account with 11,000 Sp. Our community economy was designed around a curation trail. So we do not ask members to delegate or set the community as a beneficiary. Because of the strength of our recruitment and mentorship, our trail account is now the most followed on Steemit with 297 followers currently. It votes at between $2.95 - $4.30 depending on voting weight.

We have some great plans to build SP. We usually convert some earned SBD to Steem every 16 days. We have a program called Save2soar where 32 members of the community sends 10 steem each week which is powered up. We started the program on February and its still going strong. Currently, @save2soar 10,500 Sp. It is also following our curation trail. We had a program called Power2Soar. Its our own Powerup challenge. We will restart the program next week.

We do not power up all our posts so that we will have the fund to run the community. We run daily and weekly contests. We also save some SBD which we convert to Steem for Power Up. So because of these reasons, not all posts are powered up. Currently, we vote an average of 60 posts per week with the trail. Because of how voting with a trail works, @focusnow has been handling the task of voting. The curation trail has limits and have to be properly managed.

Plagiarism and Abuse

One way to handle plagiarism is through creating awareness. We run regular weekly mentorship classes. We explain how plagiarism is viewed and why members must not try it. So we are assured that ignorance would not be an excuse if a member should be caught plagiarizing.

We mute plagiarized posts immediately and do not allow the member to continue in our community. @ninapenda and @samuel20 have been tasked with moderating our posts, which includes checking for plagiarism. So far, we have zero tolerance for plagiarism.

Engagement and commenting

Engagement is an area we have always ranked high in the community. We have a Promotion Telegram group and one of the rules for participation is that members must comment on 2 posts before they drop 1 link. In this way, engagement is encouraged. Our moderators @ninapenda and @samuel20 make at least 6 comments on posts each day. On average, 8 posts are engaged with by the team. LID reporting is another project that we have used to build and sustain engagement. The reporters engage in the ratio of 1:1. That means 1 report, 1 rich comment. That we, members adopt the engagement culture.

Plans and Update

Through the community account, we post updates on a weekly basis to keep our community members informed about what is going on in the community. Here is our last update. We plan long term. For example, save2soar is a 1 year project. We recently launched another unique promotion plan called SIM. We are kicking off next week. More updates soon.

Promotion

Promoting Steemit is the main purpose of our community and we have been doing that effectively. The city Coordinator arrangement has been working effectively as they arrange weekly mentorships and recruitment campaigns. In Aba where the office is located, we do a weekly radio presentation every Friday. We also run the center Monday - Saturday. Its equally everything promotion.

We recently launched a different promotion project called SIM. We do not want to just talk about Steemit, We want to do something for targeted groups. This project is fully kicking off next week. You would get more details from it.

Retaining members

We are really keen on retaining the members we recruited. We recently discovered that voting in city turns has not really helped us to retain our members. So we created a new system. We started by creating a new verification system. Then we changed our community support structure. In these two ways, we were able to identify our real members. Then the new support system will give priority to active members. These recent changes have greatly yielded positive results. We now have more active posts and increased engagement and active members. We will continue to adjust things so as to be able to retain our members.

Conclusion

Steemalive is the home of most active and valuable Nigerians on Steemit. And for newbies that are trying to find their feet in this new environment, there is nothing better than that they have fellow countrymen who can speak their local language, who are already on Steemit. There is no place like home. SteemAlive is that home Nigerian Steemains.

Steemalive has demonstrated in just 1 year what a united and coordinated team can achieve. We have produced all the Nigeria Country reps and 3 Cryptoacademy professors. Our results speak for us. We have a lot planned for the next year. Our projects are many. If we get selected for this Monthly support program, it will help us achieve our ambitious Mision - to take Steemit to every doorstep.
