rather very interesting to note that the said Pam making skills were self acquired as a special talent which unfolded itself despite having been hidden for long.
What's actually gave rise to this talent discovery.
It was sometime this year at ukwa East area where I met with my customer to design Pam sandals for me to enable me replace my already worn out pam but as soon as I requested for my customer to accept the little advance of cash I had with a promise to offset the balance the next day he refused and maintained his stance; but I didn't take it lightly as I became highly infuriated considering my age long patronage and customer relationship with him, hence I deemed it unethical and a big slap on my face therefore I departed overwhelmed with anger while a consolatory spirit in me was ministering courage in me that "I can do it"perhaps this could be in line with my nature of craftiness and creativity. However in obeisance to the compelling spirit;I vowed to design the said Pam by myself consequent upon which I went to the Ariaria market the next day and bought the following materials:
(a) leather, (b) cutting knife (c) brush (d)gum (e) scissors (f)Nora (g)Sand paper (h)iron and wooden ruler, (I) soul, which I used in making pam for myself even to the extent that people have started giving me very unbelievable patronages due to the beauty, quality and durability of my products.
Below are some steps I took to make a pam sandals as aforestated:let us start by indicating the functions of the various materials above.
(a) leather
This is used in forming the top of the Pam after cutting it with knife into the design of one's choice.
(b) knife
This is used in cutting any relevant material
(c) Brush and gum
These are often used together as the brush is used to collect the gum before rubbing same on the leather, soul or any relevant material.
(d) # scissors
It is used in cutting some materials.
(e)Nora
This is the inner part of the pam where the foot usually rests and it is usually cut to different sizes.
(f)Sand paper
This is an improvise with both rough and smooth surfaces for the smoothening of the edges of the pam.
(g) Iron and wooden rules for cutting and accurate measurements.
(h) Gum
The diagram has been shown with the brush above.
It is used for gumming two relevant materials for adhesion for example the gumming of leather and soul.
(I) Soul
This is the base of the pam used in matching the ground;it protects the foot.
(1)The first step I took was to gather my materials:
When I gathered my materials I used the soul to mark the Nora while I placed the souls in opposite directions and when the Nora is cut to the size of the soul;I used iron and wooden rules to measure and cut relevant places on the Nora where the leather yet to be cut will be fixed.
(2)I cut the leather accordingly as follows:
When the leathers were cut they appeared like this:
The following diagrams explain further steps from coupling to the end.
Application of gum for coupling.
Coupling in progress....
Cutting the edges with knife in progress.
Smoothening the edges with an improvised rough and smooth sand paper.
Conclusion.
The end product is here; very fine strong and durable-discover your hidden talents today....
