Yes, it does and these takes place in Four different areas that are of much concern to you, there are:

  • Your privacy
  • Your friendship
  • Your reputation

Social media or networking do consume your time which can distract you from giving attention to more important necessities or even to your household.

  • HELP OUT

The word ‘TIME’ is a commodity that you cannot afford to waste therefore you need to set aside a schedule or a ‘plan to follow’ to enable you, here is what you can do:

  • Write down the amount of time that you feel would be sensible to spend on the platform.
  • Try to discern if any underlying issues is backing.
  • Keep a track of yourself and evaluate your adherence to the time set aside. (Adjustment allowed when necessary)

Do not allow social media to interfere with your associations within you household, social media is a great way to stay in touch with others but notwithstanding, you just need to know when to shut it down.

Social media is a public domain, your profile, photos, status update and comments can be a great tool to reveal yourself to the public or other users. To illustrate:

  • A post with a picture of you along with the write-up “I Leave for Vacation tomorrow” is enough to tell a thief when and where to visit you.

  • A profile attached with an email addresses, phone number and date of birth is an open way to receive harassment from unwanted individuals.
    Whenever you post and you encrypt the post for your ‘friends only’, Truly, you have no control as to what your friends might do with your post.

  • Know your privacy setting well and put to use.

  • Allow access of only those you know well to view your photos and status update

  • Regular check-up on profile settings to review what has been in place and if any unscrupulous individual had or has made an attempt to hack your account.

What you post can be made public by the social media runners than you intend, so do not post information that could violate your privacy or that of others close to you, if sensitive information is to be disclosed promptly, use of the phone call would be the best because it’s less exposing and confidential. if you are mindful of what you do on the social media, your measure of privacy wouldn’t lead you into trouble because it’s maintained.

Your friendship influences how you think and act, your selection of whom to befriend or whom to accept a request of friendship can detect such.

  • HELP OUT
  • Set up a friending policy which will enable you on your friend’s selection.
  • Do not be attracted by what you see because most times they are “fake”, just living “an online life”.
  • Accepting requests from every dick and tom won't be advisable.

Your post reveals your reputation that can be difficult to forget or erase, it can damage your reputation with a long-range consequence, what you post online can make one loss a high-paid job or opportunities.

  • HELP OUT
Questions to ask ourselves:
  • Is this how I want to be viewed? Sexy?? Flirty?? Party animal??
  • Does this post or picture describe the value that I stand for?
  • Would I be embarrassed if someone close to me mocks the post or pictures?

Answer the questions and help yourself out.
