Learnwithsteem: what is plastic? Is plastic good to our health?

Hello dear steemiains. I welcome you all ones again to my blog this lovely day. I hope you all are doing very well on steemit despite life Challenges, the point am going to share with you is, What is plastic? Is it good for our health, and why we are using plastic today?

Plastic is raw materials or synthetic materials that uses polymers as a main ingredient, because of thier plasticity in nature, it makes it easier for it to be molded or shaped into desired size and shape you want.

plastic itself is raw materials like natural gas, oil or plants, which are refined into ethane and propane. This two that is Ethane and propane are treated with a process called “cracking” which after the process turns them into ethylene and propylene. This is the main materials that are combined together to create different polymers. There made up of Polymers which are materials in living organisms and they are the basis of many minerals that we call man-made materials.

The first plastic was invented by Leo Baekeland in 1907, he was the first person who tried to combined two chemicals (formaldehyde and phenol) together to heat and make polymer but with time many came up with ideas and started producing plastic materials, they produce plastic comb.

Today we have a lot of beautiful Item made of plastic like bocket, tooth brush, plastic chairs, etc, not only that, plastic have solve a lot of challenges in our society, it is easy now to travel with food, drink, water because it is in a plastic container.

As we all know that all invention has its good and bad side of it. Plastic do also because all it's product contains chemicals addictives that poses threat to human health - health problems such as hormone-related cancers, infertility, which linked to cancers, birth defects, impaired immunity, endocrine disruption and other ailment and this dangerous chemical is found in all of us because we all are using products made be plastic every day.

If I may ask, did you brush your teeth today? Is your bocket made of plastic? Do you have Plastic shoe or Silpas? If your answer is yes in all, then you are not free from the harmful effects of plastic.

Research showed that from 1950 to 2018, about 6.3 billion tonnes of plastics have been produced worldwide, which is 9% and 12% of these plastic have been recycled and the label on each of this plastic is hazardous chemicals which is dangerous to health and as humans keep increasing in number, there is need to produce more plastic. That is why I said earlier that the chemical is found in our body as we use plastic every day.

Another problem plastic have on our environment is that is polluting our environment as people are littering our environment with plastic. Some gutters are filled up with empty container of plastic, many through it out from the window of their cars without minding where it will fall, this has led to accident and even death.

I still have a lot of information about plastic to share with us, the next one will be on types of plastic we have and how to avoid some dangers associated with it but do not forget this that the number of plastic that have been produced is more than the world population.

In conclusion, plastic is helpful and harmful at the same time, make more research and know how to avoid some health challenges on plastic.
