# The Contest “Happy Universal Children’s Day” 2021/Nigeria/27th May 2021|Entry @imaitor

It is my humble pleasure to share my research work and thoughts about Children’s Day celebration with all the beautiful and handsome people in the world of steem.

Before perusing the subject matter let’s go into contextual definition of terms

UNIVERSAL: This which is also known as Worldwide, Global, international etc refers to anything applicable or general accepted by (majority) Countries of the world.

CHILDREN : (According to Oxford Dictionary) a young human being (plural) below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority. Children are referred in the society as the “minor” because at this stage they seem not to be informed

fully about life experience, problems, conflict and decision making.

Children-hood comes with restrictions as they are not qualified to vote, not certified to own a licensed car, and also restricted by the Nigeria Video Censorship Board not to view or be exposed to certain videos like romantic and pornographic videos.

Children/teenagers have little or no responsibilities as their needs and wants are been taken care of by parents/guardian.

In Nigeria Children are categorized from the age of 0-14year, teenage children 14-17years.

Biblically, children are blessing from God. And they will make heaven because of their innocence.

Jesus, the messiah said in the book of Mathew 19:14 “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

In my research I have found out issues lingering on the authentic origin or initiator of Children’s Day.

It is worthy to note that Children’s Day is different from international Children’s Day.

Children’s Day was birthed first before Universal Children’s Day.

HISTORY OF CHILDREN’S DAY
Historically, it is believed that children day was earlier known as ‘Rose Day’ ‘Flower Sunday’ in the Universal Church of Redeemer in Chelsea presided by Rev. Dr. Charles Leonard (Acclaimed Originator). The church mapped out every second Sunday of the month of June to commemorate children of the church in 1857.

UNIVERSAL/INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S DAY

Universal children day came into existence after mooted by Rubab Mansoor (Initiator) grade 8 and as adopted by the United Nations (UN) in 1959 at its General Assembly.

The UN is an intergovernmental organization comprising of 193 States/Countries with the aim of maintaining international peace and security, mutual friendliness among nations.

Remember previously I stayed that Children’s Day is different from universal Children Day. Universal Children’s Day came into existence with signatures of 193 countries of the world while children’s day was just in England.

WHY UNITED NATIONS SET OUT A DATE TO CELEBRATE CHILDREN’S DAY

1. The day was mapped out as to promote mutual understanding among children of various nations and to put up beneficial programs for the welfare of Children globally.

1. To promote global togetherness.

Children’s Day is celebrated globally and annually. The only difference is it’s observance day varies by States.

27TH MAY- Nigeria celebrates children’s Day every 27th May Annually.

12 JUNE- This is the date USA celebrates Children’s Day.

12TH MAY -Celebrated in London.

20TH NOVEMBER- This is the UN accepted date for the celebration.

1ST JUNE- This is the date Soviet Nations celebrates children’s Day; Countries like Ukraine, Cuba, Slovenia, Kosovo, Russia, Georgia, Armenia etc.

Just as special as fathers/mother’s Day so the children Day is. Without Children no family, Nation is complete.

Children are not only the future of the world , they are blessings from God. They are minority today but tomorrow’s majority.

UNICEF stated in 2010 that 6, 332, 000 childbirth occurs in Nigeria yearly.

LESSONS FROM CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION

1. CHILDREN ARE MINORS OF TODAY BUT THE MAJORS OF TOMORROW: individuals like Barrack Obama, Nelson Mandela, George Bush, Bill Gates where children of the past years who grew to be measures of today.

1. I have learnt to help children in my capacity to grow positively because they are the future of tomorrow. They are the strong bones of tomorrow.

2. Also, I have learnt that children are weak vessels that needs and deserves our attention, prayers , loves and care for better modeling because they are the LEADERS OF TOMORROW.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNT FROM CHILDREN

1. LOYALTY- Children are very loyal to their parents/guardians. This is one of the qualities I love about children . No matter how their parent offends them, they remain loyal.

2. OBEDIENCE - Most children are very obedient to instruction from parents. They memorize instructions as to keep them

1. DONT FORGET EASILY - Don’t promise a child what you cannot offer because that child will remind you the promised even after 5year. Children hardly forget. One day I promised my kid sister Sharwama which I forgot. When I came back to my family house of 3years of boarding; the first question she asked me after “Uncle Welcome” is “Where is my Sharwama”

Yeah! that’s how unforgettable children are.

1. TRUST: It’s is one of the major qualities I admire from kids. They trust parents and words of parents that you can’t make them to not believe; just because they trust so well.

2. TO BE JOYFUL ALWAYS

BEST GIFT FROM PARENTS TO A CHILD
This is the major gift any parent can give to their kid and they will appreciate in the future. EDUCATION is the gift. No matter how poor, parents should make sure their kids are educated from primary to tertiary level.

BEST GIFT PRESENT TO A KID.
So many kids have different likes; their like might not be the likes of adult. But these are the tops best gifts for a child

◾️Book
◾️Chocolate
◾️Clothings

Children are very important, they are the Lawyers,

Doctors, journalist, Engineers of tomorrow when you lead them positively and don’t forget when you direct them wrongly they will turn to be the Armed robbers, kidnappers, killers of tomorrow.

Children also have prison when found guilty to charges or allegations. Theirs is called juvenile

Train up a child in the way he should go ; so that when he grows he willl not depart from it.

4th June- International Day of Innocent Children victim of Aggression

12th June- World Day against Children Labour.
