Introduction

Good day steemians, today, all I want you to do is to imagine with me a scene, a man was murdered and the criminal left the scene before the police could get there, and how do you think they will carryout thier investigation, your all thinking and have come with an answer which might probably be to examine the murder location looking at the blood stains, cause of death and other components to catch the killer like fingerprint, hair etc.

Did you ever wonder what that process is ?, Or it's branch in science ?, No need to bother yourself going search the web after seeing this post, that branch in science is what we will be discussing, and it is called "Forensic science".

What's forensic science ?

Forensic science can be defined as the blend between law and science, it is sometimes called criminalization, it is the clear study of a crime scene using scientific methods. In recent time it has evolved to the use of modern equipment to identify the murderer like in the illustration above and the cause of death. A forensic scientist try to rebuild the crime scene using the evidence available, it's really a fun branch if science in simple tense it's the study of evidence. Below is the definition of forensic science from vocaputre dictionary,
Definition
Any of several fields of study involving the collection of physical evidence and its subsequent analysis.

Branches of forensic science

Forensic science is a huge help and improvement to mankind security, they are various branches but I will share only 5 with you guys.

  • Forensic Pathology
    This branch of forensic science deals with dead bodies, they examine corpses to get evidence to be presented in court, it shows the cause of death, murder weapon, it also tells if it's a crime scene or an accident. It's mostly what we see in the movie, they are actually the once who carry out autopsy before sending the corpse to the mortuary.

  • Ballistics
    I love this branch of forensic science, it deals with the studies of firearm in a case, it tells us more about guns than we ever know, the bullets and this eventually leads to the solution of the case at hand.

  • Forensic anthropology
    Forensic anthropologist comes in place when the body of the victim is left unrecognizable, it studies human bones and other physical variation of human being, it helps to identify the victim and leads to the finding of the cause of death.

  • Forensic odontology
    Forensic Odontology/Forensic Dentistry has to do with proper handling of dental tools, and evaluation of any form of dental evidence, that can be used in solving a criminal case, take poisoning as an example, they handle all those and other cases involving bites mark.

  • Forensic accounting
    Forensic accounting, is the use of accounting knowledge in finding or catching acts of embezzlement or fraud in an organization which can be used in the courtroom.

Reading this, you might be like there is forensic everything like forensic nursing, forensic swimming and many more, yes it's kind of true if,
¹ It can be used in the court of law as an evidence which can either help the defendant or prosecutor. When this is fulfilled it simply forensic science is involved.

Importance of forensic science

¹ Crime solving contribution
Ever since forensic science was introduced, solving of crimes rate increased, it helped the police force alot, to end top criminal cases.

² Determining cause of death
It helps the family member of the dead individual or the police force identify the cause of death if that individual be it suicide or murder, for charges to be prosecuted.

³ Finding missing persons, and

Advantages of forensic science

¹ Opportunity to develop research
Forensic scientist are offered various opportunity to develop thier research, so as to engage crime, it's opportunity are sometimes real cases.

² Critical thinking
A forensic scientist is a deep thinker, because they deal with the study of evidence, which in turn give it real or understandable meaning. A branch in forensic science recreate a crime scene using evidence.

³ Oral communication skills
Those who studied forensic psychology, tends to improve thier communication and interaction with other human beings.

Disadvantages of forensic science

¹ Tedious work
A forensic scientist works about 40 hours to totally close on his analysis, sometimes it exceeds this time.

² Mistake in calculation or analysis
This will lead to false accusations of people there by leading to false arrest of innocent individuals.

Closing remark

Forensic science has been of great help to us all, it has helped man's security, it's one that helps the executive arm of government implement the laws, been created, it's really a good career choice.
