Hello fellow Steemians, I am glad to bring this post sequel to my previous post on Land Pollution In Aba
Today's post is on Waste Management or Waste Disposal In Aba
A public trash bin somewhere in Aba🗑
Waste control refers to the numerous schemes to control and cast off wastes. It may be via way of means of discarding, destroying, processing, recycling, reusing, or controlling wastes. The high goal of waste control is to lessen the quantity of unusable substances and to preclude capacity fitness and environmental hazards.
Refuse dumping truck
In Aba, Abia state, the method used in managing wastes is a conventional method. That is discarding method. Residents usually package their wastes and dump it subsequently in designated area where the refuse dumping truck will come and evacuate the wastes to a permanent dump site.
Methods of waste disposal
- Landfills: this involves dumping of rubbish or dirts in landfills
- Incineration: in this method, the solid wastes are burnt in high temperatures
- Composting: here, biodegradable wastes such as papers, tissues or maize cobs are turned into manure
- Recycling and re-use: in this method, wastes such as plastics and metals are sorted out and packaged as raw materials for local or industrial use.
Conclusion:
- Indiscriminate dumping of refuse on land must be discouraged
- Refuse must be burnt or disposed at the proper places e.g dustbins 🗑
- Other means of waste management are also encouraged, such as recycling, reprocessing, and re-use.
Always keep your surroundings clean. Keep Aba clean. Keep Nigeria clean. Make the world a better place to live in.
