I woke up in the morning highly energetic and motivated. Today being my Community Development Service (CDS) day, I prepared and went for the program. It was a general CDS activities today because of change in the leadership of Aba Zonal Inspector.

The new Zonal Inspector is by name Mrs. Ruth Jacob. A seasoned leader, a mother of seven, Author of about 35 books. She is a recipient of several awards. In her introductory speech, she further buttressed the importance of CDS and it's impact in the lives of Corps members, the communities they serve and the nation at large.
She also urged the Corps members to use their service year for skills acquisition and entrepreneurial development. Failure to do so will have a negative effect on your life on the realisation that there's no more jobs available in the labor market. The available ones can only take in skilled professionals. So, there's the need for Corps members to use their time judiciously and acquire new skills.
Furthermore, Mrs. Jacob highlighted the importance of Corps members welfare and security. She promised to organise employer's forum to tackle some of the impending issues between Corps members and their employers.
Subsequently, she called all the heads of the different CDS groups for a special briefing. I was one of them being the team lead of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) CDS group. It was a superb one on one meeting with Mrs. Jacob. We were all glad to have her as our new Zonal Inspector. Her energy is contagious. She knows how to spur someone into action.
