I'm so excited to be part of this contest, as I'm happy whenever I'm with children. Frankly speaking Children are my best friends 😊, they are always welcoming, sweet and fun to be with. That's why I'm celebrating Children's day with every child through this great platform STEEMIT. Thanks @bright-obias for remembering our Children.

INTRODUCTION

One of the greatest gift to mankind from God are children. Children are young and beautiful creatures with innocent smiles and carefree spirits, that steals the hearts of many🥰. Little wonder a day was set aside to celebrate them, because they are the most adorable, loving and sweet creatures on planet earth, that can never be traded for anything in the world.

In my opinion every child deserves to be celebrated everyday of their lives and so a day was set aside for them to show how important they are, this day is called CHILDREN'S DAY ❤ . Children's day is a day set aside universally to celebrate and honour every child irrespective of their backgrounds.

Every children day celebration brings beautiful memories of my childhood. Childhood is one of thes best times of my life, i had fun growing up with my mum(was raised by my mum) and my siblings. I could remember my Dad bringing me gifts each time he visits and lovely moments spent with him😊. Children's day was one of the days i spent with my Dad and i really treasured every moment.

BRIEF HISTORY OF CHILDREN'S DAY INNOVATION

Children's Day began on the second Sunday of June in 1857 by Reverend Dr. Charles Leonard, pastor of the Universalist Church of the Redeemer in Chelsea, Massachusetts: Leonard held a special service dedicated to, and for the children. Leonard named the day Rose Day, though it was later named Flower Sunday, and then named Children's Day.Source

Children's Day was first officially declared a national holiday by the Republic of Turkey in 1920 with the set date of 23 April. Children's Day has been celebrated nationally since 1920 with the government and the newspapers of the time declaring it a day for the childrenSource.

However, it was decided that an official confirmation was needed to clarify and justify this celebration and the official declaration was made nationally in 1929 by the founder and the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.Source

Children’s Day was first celebrated worldwide in October 1955, under the sponsorship of International Union for Child Welfare in Geneva. The idea of a Universal Children’s Day was mooted by Rubab Mansoor grade 8 and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954.Source

In Nigeria Children's Day was first established by the United Nations in 1964, May 27. Ever since then this day remains the most important day in the lives of many Nigerian children.

May 27 which is the annual traditional day set aside to mark Children’s day in Nigeria. This day is widely anticipated by many Nigerian kid, as it's an Holiday for them and lots of fun activities are created to celebrate these amazing Cupcakes (i called them Cupcakes 🥰). Children's day is also a day for Parents and Guardian to bond more and have fun with their children.

SIGNIFICANCE OF CHILDREN’S DAY

In addition to the festivities and celebrations of Children’s Day, this date also serve as day to recognise that all minors and children have the right to Good health, Good Education and Protection.

The Universal Children's Day is not just a day to celebrate children, but to also bring awareness to children around the world that may have experienced violence in forms of abuse, exploitation, trafficking, prostitution and other discrimination, so other children can be aware of this and know how tackle such issues. As many atimes most of our Children are used as laborers in some countries especially in Africa-Nigeria, as they are forcely engaged in suicidal acts. Some live on the streets, suffering by differences be it religion, minority issues or disabilities, and lots of horrible things that happens to them.

Also there's always an advocacy about the welfare and character of children on Children's day celebrations. Children should be nutured in the right way, with a right and condusive atmosphere , because their character and what they grow to become in future is highly influenced by what they see, hear, and are being taught.
So Parents/Guardians and the society at-large are encouraged to create a positive and nice atmosphere for our children for them to become great adults tomorrow.

ACTIVITIES ON CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION

On Children’s day lots of fun and social activities are put in place for the celebration, organised by Parents/Guardians, Schools, Government and Non-governmental bodies, and also Media organisations.

Social activities varying from excursions, parties, Picnics, funfairs, parades, and many others. Most of these activities are held at Tourist/Recreational centres like Garden city amusement park, Special centres like stadiums for match past, Cinemas to see a movie of their choice and many beautiful places as Children loves Colourful places.

The Government also play a role in Children's day celebration by Organizing Parties for them, giving them lovely gifts and also Create awareness about issues faced by many children in the world. Such as Child abuse, Child trafficking, Child labour and many awful things. The Government and Non-governmental organisations, and Media organisations, also take the day to reach out to children, celebrate and help them in several ways like sponsoring their education based on a child outstanding academic performance.

Most importantly, Parents celebrate their children too on this day, by taking them out to their favorite places, getting them presents, take them out on excursions, and most especially giving them a treat🥰.

THE BEST GIFT TO GIFT CHILDREN ON CHILDREN'S DAY

The best gift to give to children is Love, Care, and Attention, Children appreciates every moments spent with their loved ones. And this goes a long way than material gift. However, Children also love gifts like;

▪︎TOYS
Children should be gifted their favourite toys, as this will make them very happy, because they love toys such as Teddy bears, Games,, Toy cars, bicycle etc..

▪︎TAKING THEM OUT
Children also appreciate kind gestures of fun outings to the favorite place( the place they mostly talk about 😊). Outings to places like cinemas, Game centers or restaurants are also great gifts for them on children's day

▪︎STORY BOOKS
Story books well coloured with attractive drawings are well appreciated by children and this is another beautiful gift for kids.

▪︎CHOCOLATES AND ICE-CREAM
Hahaha.. this is one gift every child loves and they will continously love them if you gift them this. Speaking from experience my minions(kids) in my compound are always excited whenever I gifts them Chocolates or Ice-cream, sometimes when I'm going out and they see me, they will always remind me to buy Chocolates for them. Even this past Children's day I gave my lil minion Chocolate and she was so happy 😊

THINGS I HAVE LEARNT FROM CHILDREN

▪︎HAPPINESS
The smiles on their faces is always a beautiful site to behold. This is one spectacular attribute to a child and I somehow how learnt this from them, " that happiness is free and you can make yourself happy". Children are always happy and always create activities(when they play, dance or eat) by themselves to be happy.

▪︎FREE-SPIRITED
If there's one thing I learnt from children is to be free at heart. They live without border, irrespective of the situation around them, they have this self- confidence that everything is fine. Believe me the best decision i made this year was to tell myself that everything is going to be fine, all thanks to my lovely Cupcakes🤗

▪︎SINCERITY
Children are the most sincere creatures on earth, they always tell the truth, sometimes consciously or unconsciously 😂 and that's why i love them

▪︎FORGIVING HEART
Because they have the purest of heart, forgiveness comes freely within them, even if they are being hurt 10times in a day, they are ready to forgive you 10times too. I can be short-tempered and flare up atimes but I got to observe the rate at which children forgives easily after be scolded by an elder one, I loved that gesture and I said to myself to always learn to forgive. My lil Cupcake( His name is Victor) if I should scold or spank him for his wrong behavior, and I call him just 3mins after he would gladly come to me with smiles 😍

CONCLUSION

Children are the most beautiful gift from God to man, with the purest of hearts and smiles. Children are heritage of the world and they ought to be celebrated everyday and given the best of life, as childhood is the most important stage in every individuals life. Also, Proper care should be given to them so they can be Mentally, Emotionally and psychological fit to live in our societies. Parents and Guardian should be most conscious of their children to protect them from negative activities that could endanger them, and Yes.... every Child deserves the right to Good education, Healthcare and a Better life. As my people(kalabari tribe) will say "AWO-NGO meaning CHILDREN ARE WEALTH ".
