Needless to ask whether you have ever experienced love in your life, most people have, especially marital love. When a man is in love, he can do anything to save his lover even in seemingly little things. Do you agree to this notion?

A man whom I'll call Ikenna, a Nigerian from the tribe of Igbo land, live and work in the US. He got married to the love his life an American lady who also loves Ikenna dearly.

During the Christmas period, Ikenna and wife decided to visit his homeland in Igbo land. With all joy, his wife got herself prepared for the trip to Africa. She anticipated to eat all the Igbo delicacies as well as learn how to prepare them since her husband Ikenna had told her so many stories of how to prepare a kind of soup with bitter leaf. He told her that she can just enter the backyard, cut some bitter leaf, wash it and use it to prepare bitter leaf soup along with every ingredients so desired. What he did not explain is how to wash the said bitter leaf before using it to make soup.

They arrived Ikenna's village with a handful of hommies welcoming them. Within a short time, Ikenna's mother prepared delicious food for them which they enjoyed very well. The next day Ikenna took her around the village to view the cool and calm serene while she took several pictures of anything she likes.

Few days later, Ikenna's friends visited them to admire and cheer up Ikenna's foreign wife. With all enthusiasm, she volunteered to showcase her talent of preparing bitter leaf soup for the visitors. So she over the kitchen, went to the back yard, cut some bitter leaf, entered the kitchen and wash them. Sad to say that she did not apply the usual washing by squeezing out the foam to remove the bitter taste of the leave. She only washed away dirt, cut them in pieces and add all her ingredients.

You can imagine the taste of the soup, so bitter that despite all the stock-fish, crayfish, meat, Knorr spices and dry fish, the soup was still very bitter. But she thought to herself that it was the African style.

The table was set, the friends - five of them, are seated with Ikenna anticipating to enjoy what their friend's wife is preparing for them. Minutes later Ikenna rushed to the kitchen to help his wife carry out the food to the dinning table for his friends to enjoy.

Fortunately, he tasted the soup. Lo and behold, it was as bitter as the leaf is. Who can eat this kind of soup? Ikenna quickly cracked his brain and came up with a plan. As he carried the tray with the food from the kitchen, walks few steps to the dining table, he stumbled over nothing and fell down flat with the tray. The plates, the tray, everything flew to different sides.

The friends rushed to help him get up. They were no longer worried about spilled soup and the broken plates rather were concerned that Ikenna do not get hurt whereas it was a well planned fall by Ikenna. He planned to fall in order save his wife from embarrassment if the friends didn't eat his wife's bitter leaf soup.

He told the friends that the pot of soup was all dished out at once so there's no leftover. He therefore present drinks to his friends instead.

That's love for you. Even in seeming small things, love protects companions.
