Lately I have been unavoidably absent from this beautiful platform because I traveled home for the burial of my maternal grand father who passed on last year at the age of 107 years.
Actually, it was a celebration of life because its not Everytime that someone attains that age.
We (me and the rest of my family) travelled home on the 5th day of May. We left Aba to the village at about 2pm for a burial that was supposed to hold on the 7th of May. Because of traffic situations that delayed us in the city of Aba, we arrived home very late on rent faithful day.
The next day, more relatives returned, it was a very happy moment, I used it to meet with family members whom I have not seen in a very long while. Preparations continued and I helped with many things especially in the kitchen; fetching water and cooking.
The evening of that day (6th May) was a wake keeping in favour of my grand father, friends and family danced, made merry.
Then the following day been 7th, while we (the ladies) intestified efforts to see that everything was ok around the kitchen, some people left for the mortuary.
At about 8:30am the remains was home and was lying in state.
People were encourage to go see him for the last time. By 9:30am, we left for church. At the mass, the priest preached and encouraged all present to live a wordy life because no one knows when they will be called home by the creator to come give account of our own activities here on Earth.
At about noon, we all returned home from the church and went straight to the grave side, and he was laid to rest. Visitors were served food and drinks amidst music.
The nest day relatives started returning to their various locations.
But I had to stay back to help out everything in place.
I only returned yesterday.
That was how the burial of my maternal grandfather went. Thanks for reading, and may God bless you.
