Introduction

As Africans, keeping our hair in it's natural texture is not a normal thing just like the whites do. Rather, we get our hair chemically relaxed to relieve us of the much stress and pains that will come especially when braiding our hair. So when we don't chemically relax our hair, we simply call it a "NATURAL HAIR"

Growing up, I never had the privilege to grow my hair for either weaving or braiding. My parents had this mindset that it would cause some distractions in my academics. So through out my college days, I never made beautiful hairstyles like some of my mates.

Well, graduating from college in the year 2013 made this possible and I was so excited to make my first hair, which of course, I had no braidable hair still at that time, but notwithstanding, the hairdresser made my first hair do a reality and very beautiful as well.

Why I started my natural hair journey

Due to how inquisitive I was, I randomly used a lot haircare products on my hair to get it chemically relaxed which in turn damaged my hair by giving me different colour shades of hair. Imagine having colours like brown, gold, black and red mixture on my hair, hahahahaa! so ridiculous!

So sometime around October 2018, I decided to have a haircut so I can start all over again and this time, I promised not to use any kind of haircare products again. It wasn't an easy decision to have a cut because not minding the fact that my hair has being damaged, I had a very full and long hair that people admired.
And so, I Started my Natural hair growth journey.

So, I started with buying some organic natural haircare products which I would use to groom my hair. Truthfully, organic haircare products are quite expensive, but there are some affordable ones still. These are the prices of my organic natural haircare products in my local currency (Naira), Steem and SBD.

Over these years, I have learnt to take care of my hair properly and this has made my natural hair growth very healthy and has also left people wondering if my hair is actually up to 3 years.

Keeping my natural hair has saved me a lot of expenses because I seldom add any kind of attachment while having a hairdo, I either weave my natural hair or I make some hair twist out.

Conclusion

Unlike those years when I wasn't too satisfied with my hair because of the different colour shades caused by using too many haircare products, I have confidently carried my natural hair now with no regrets. I am glad I took the bold step for a better natural hair.
