the image of the masquerade above is called "EKPO NKA OWO" meaning the deity responsible for exposing infidelity among the women of my culture mostly married women.

Ekpo Nka Owo, is the Ibibio and Annang ancestral spirits all in Akwa-Ibom or ghosts of fornication. Ekpo Nka Owo help to check and expose and curtail infidelity among traditionally married women, so that the sanity of marriage will be intact among the Ibibio tribe
According to Ibibio and Annang folk tales, in Akwa Ibom state and some neighboring parts of Cross River, if a woman that is already married go ahead and commits adultery and become pregnant and she fails to confess she is certain to die while giving birth to the child or she lost all her matured children to the hands of death. and it has been said and believed that the soul of the woman after death will be claimed by that deity

and it doesn't just end there, if the husband to the woman that commits the adultery is fully aware of what his wife has done and failed to report her to the family the Ekpo Nka Owo will also take the soul of the man. and a lot of lives have been taken as a result of this belief.
an elderly man was interviewed and he was asked the reason that the deity only focus on the women leaving the men who even commits adultery more. the answer the man gave surprised not only the interviewer but me, the man said that for a man to be suffering from infidelity is a big crime against his wife meanwhile it is only the infidelity of a woman that is taboo in the land.

they are some part of ibgo land that practice the same culture, therefore if you want to marry into an Igbo family you should watch out for these to avoid stories like this in the future, funny enough the Ekpo Nka Owo is not the deity that understands the English language, I advise to end your marriage than to have extramarital affair that may destroy your life and that of your family

the strange part is that No pastor or priest can pray you out of the clutches of this deity, only confession, and cleansing.

after learning about this I only wonder if its practice is very effective today. research work all done by me @obrisgold so sad am not yet verified for the #club5050 votes please I need your support so I can meet up with the #club5050 requirements thanks and God bless..
