Today was a tough one, but well it’s just like an average day in the life of every developer, or do I say “mobile developers”? I had my own fair share of the headache today.
Well, I had a task to deliver, It was already near the deadline and I just had to deliver the task, don’t ask me why I didn’t request a time extension, it’s not really part of our upbringing here at Decagon, we do our best to deliver in fact its almost compulsory. But on the other hand, I personally think it’s a good habit, even without being compelled, timely delivery should be part of anyone who offers services out there, I think it’s one habit that can make you excel at whatever services you offer.
Back to the story, I had been on this particular task for three good days and night trying to put things together, mehn!, no be small matter o, I had to code all through last night well maybe that’s because I was trying to implement new features entirely. Na so I dey code till almost this morning yet 25% of the work is not done,
I was almost sleeping on my laptop when I decided to take 3 hours of sleep before my brain go knock lol.
I set my alarm to wake me up by 6 am, in fact, I didn’t sleep well because I know I was running behind time, I immediately jumped on my PC and continued from where I stopped, then by 8 am I had daily standup meeting my associate, in case you wondering what a daily standup is, it’s just an agile practice used by product managers to manage task delivery. You will have to state your progress, your challenges, and what next you intend to do according to your backlogs.
After the meeting I went for unblocking, my associates guided me through some processes and I was able to achieve about 40% of the task.
By this time my hunger don turn my belle, na so I waka enter cafeteria go chop ofada rice abi wetin dey they call am, Rice wey wrap for leaf lol
I rested and it was an EFL match between Manchester United and Westham united. I forgot to tell you, I’m a die-hard Manchester United fan. I decided to go and enjoy the match. my annoyance now is that as I type, we are currently losing by 1 goal. I pray we come back as usual.
After this match, I will go and continue with my code.
As a matter of fact, I need to tidy things up between this night and tomorrow.
