A friend could be someone other than a family member or spouse who's company we enjoy or an associate capable of showing affection and giving assistance. Many do make bad decisions when it comes to choosing friends and this may affect them negatively. I'll be narrating a true life story to illustrate the saying "Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are", get your popcorn while I drop the gist.

There's this handsome young guy in his early twenties who lived down the street, he was just so calm, gentle and was known by all as a peaceful person. He was normally known by his nickname Antidote which fit him perfectly meanwhile his birth name was Abasi-ono meaning God's gift when translated in English.

Abasi-ono AKA Antidote had a childhood friend Sam, they grew up together and we're inseperable. Infact they were best friends and they flocked together, hence one never left the other's side. Sadly Sam joined a group of trending cult society known as the Black daggers. This cult group is the dreadest in my locality as its very fearsome and dangerous.

Since Antidote is already addicted to his best friend Sam, he couldn't withdraw from him. Their friendship was hard to break, hence they continued sticking to one another. Although Sam was trying to talk Abasi-ono into joining the cult group, Abasi-ono stood his ground and refused to be influenced by his best friend but what later happened will shock you.

Many came to the conclusion that since Abasi-ono still stuck to his friend Sam that maybe he has been fully initiated into the society as a verified member not knowing that Abasi-ono was actually innocent. I can remember vividly when armed forces raided our area due to the activities of this cult guys and arrested people randomly.

Abasi-ono was arrested as well as someone had referred the forces to him saying he was one of them. He was harassed, molested and beaten to exposed his fellow cult members meanwhile he was innocent. It was only the pleas from family and close friends who knew him that he was granted bail out of the police custody.

After sometime, another cult group known as the Red devils had a serious argument and disagreement with the Black daggers which led to a clash between the two societies and you should all know how bloody such scenes are. Sam knew the current situation at hand and was on the lookout.

On that fateful day, Abasi-ono and Sam were together as usual when Sam noticed some funny movements, instead of alerting innocent Abasi-ono to run for his life, he left the poor guy suffer for the sins he hasn't committed. Sometime later, the opposing cult group showed up with anger written boldly on their faces.

They met Abasi-ono and thinking he was one of them unleashes their anger on him. Before he could say jack, he was pieces into shreds and his body parts scattered in the middle of the road, they left with his head. Such a shameful death! If only the innocent guy had cut off all ties with his so-called friend.

The scene was just so pathetic, seeing the body parts of an innocent 20yrs old guy being assembled together into a coffin for burial by his embittered parent is what none of us would like to experience. Abasi-ono was tagged a cultist because he was a friend to one.

One who befriends a thief is automatically known as a thief, therefore we should be careful of the kind of people we associate with, they might put us in trouble or endanger our lives. Research shows that 67% of decisions made by humans are through influence and pressure from others which could possibly be our friends. Let's keep on the watch, let's be on guard.
