In this episode, we shall look at the word "wife" too.

God has made the wife in a unique way so she can handle many things at a time.

Now, bringing all the definitions together, the meanings of husband are as follows:

  1. The master of the house. This is where the husband being the head of a house was derived from.
  2. Housekeeper. This is where the protective role of a husband was derived from.
  3. House holder
  4. Male partner in marriage. This is what everyone understands as a husband.
  5. One who tills the marriage, family, and everyone under his house so that they can readily receive good values, teachings.
  6. One who cultivate positive values, behaviours, habits in his house
  7. One who teaches or refine those in his house to be distinct in taste and judgment
  8. One who tends the people in his house.
  9. One who cares for and looks after those in his house.
  10. One who judiciously manages the resources under his care.

As a man reading this, just examine your role as a husband, are you meeting up? Or you are just the ATM of the family?

As a woman, do you expect all these from your husband or you are just looking for someone to pay your bills?

The truth is, both men and women do not have a full understanding of what and who a husband is. So, none of them expect this much.

LET ME BLOW YOUR MIND FURTHER

When we subject the word 'wife' to the same etymological exegesis, it does not have any functional meaning. The meaning of wife is derived from her relation to her husband. There is no verbal root of the word either.

So, does that mean a wife doesn't have any functional role in her marriage?

No, she does. She is coming from a home where a husband (her father) ought to have fulfilled all the listed responsibilities in his household. So, she is expected to come into marriage already equipped to be able to do some of the roles listed – because she has learnt from her father. So, when she is married, she combines what she learned from her father with that from her husband, and they both raise total children.

So, in summary, a husband is a male partner in marriage who leads, tends, manages, teaches, protects, instils good behaviour, and ensures the general wellbeing of everyone in his domain – the family.
