Introduction
Hello @steemalive it's my pleasure to present to you the Lagos City Steemit Report for the week that was just spent. I am sorry the report is coming now, i was not able to make it during the weekend as we were instructed, because i was not ok health wise, but i am glad that i am stronger now.
So last week we had just one recruit @laborah. She was recruited by @afunkycares. Below is her introduction post link, you can visit and drop a welcome note for her.
Username | Introduction Post |
---|---|
@laborah | Achievement 1 |
Summary of Steemit users in Lagos City
Category | Total |
---|---|
Total Users in the city | 71 |
Active | 31 |
Inactive | 39 |
New users recruited this week | 1 |
We had a larger number of inactive users last week, and this is not encouraging at all. Though i tried reaching out to so many persons as regards their inactiveness, and i found out that some of them are having one personal challenge or the other that is affecting their activeness, which i believe will be resolved soonest.
Someone like @analee and @harrygwec lost their phones which is the major gadget they use for their steemit work. Some are writing exams, and some others had some other challenges.
Retention
Mentorship Via Our Telegram channel
In a bid to retain users, our Lagos telegram group had been very useful for mentorship, updates and reminders. @ammyy had also been doing a great job by helping me to fetch contest links of all communities and drop them on the group, to ease members the stress of always going to search for contest. Also i make extra efforts in calling to check up on some of our users to find out their reasons of in-activeness and encourage them to find a way and get active again.
Weekly Contest
I also set weekly contest in a bid to encourage users, the last contest had only 4 participants and winners. I made the contest winners announcement yesterday as seen in the below screenshot.

Our next contest will be set before the week runs out.
City Curation Project
Currently @steemalive launched a program called city Curation Project. It's a project that is based on helping cities to build their city curation account, so as to use it and support city members who participated in contributing to the account. The project is based on city members pulling their Steem resources together to build a curation account that will need to city members. The project was launched in the past 3 weeks and we recently did our we one Power-up of the contributions we made.
This will help in supporting users with votes, thereby reducing the high level of expired posts without votes. You can check out our last Power-up post of the @citycuratorlagos in this post here.
Our Plans
Monthly Meetups
We have scheduled that on monthly basis, we will be having our city meetups. Based on that, our meetup for the month of June is coming up on Sunday 27th June 2021. The below flier is our meetup flier for invitation to the meetup.
Our Meetup flier designed by @talktofaith
On thursday some of us will be going to a schoool Federal College of Education (FCE) Akoka Lagos State Nigeria, to invite some students for the meetup. I had already gone to the school on Monday to get permission from the necessary authorities for the awareness.
On the day of the meetup, we will all put on our steemit t-shirts, it's also another means of creating awareness/promoting steemit.
NB: If you have not gotten your own t-shirt, please dm me for yours with your size and choice of colour. Some of us has already gotten theirs.
Steemit Office/Training Center
It is one of my priority as a city co-ordinator to get a training center/steemit office for our lagos city steemian. This will help the newbies especially to always come around for any challange or difficulty they encounter. It will be a full time training center. But due to the some challenges around, we are going to be using parks and fastfood facilities on rental basis for now, until we get our own office.
To Take Steemit To The Grassroot Of Our City
This is kick starting from thursday, we are going to make this a weekly program, where we launch into certain places to talk to people about steemit. It's going to be time demanding and financial tasking, but it will be fun anyway.
To Retain Atleast 90% Of Our Lagos Steemians
Retention is one of the core challenges we face on steemit, though some steemians gets in-active due to some personal issues, but others gets in-active due to some failed expectation that they had in mind about steemit before joining the platform. Though having a training center is one of the measures that will help deal with this issue, but i will try to deal with it in our meetups.
@steemalive and @steemitblog, this is my report so far for the week past spent.
Best regards
