Greenhouse gases are gases that are capable of trapping radiant energy and reradiating it back to the earth surface thereby warming the earth. Examples of greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide, water vapour, methane, nitrous oxide, etc. These gases are the drivers of climate change.

The concentration of these gases continue to rise since the industrial revolution due to human activities leading to profound climatic change that is impacting on all aspects of human live such as weather, food supply, health etc.

The concentration of carbon dioxide which is the most abundant greenhouse gas has increased from 280 ppm during the start of the industrial revolution to a staggering 419 ppm in 2021.
The current emission rate could lead to a 2 degree increase in global temperature

There is therefore need to collaborate globally and cut down drastically on emission rate in order to avert crisis on earth
I hope I have been able to shed more light on the greenhouse gases.
