Are You Speaking Life or Death?
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].” (Proverbs 18:21, AMP)
The research was conducted sometime on some cancer patients. When each was asked if they believed they could come out well, they had different responses. Some said they would come out well, while the others said they didn't think they would. Years later, the ones who were positive of coming out well, were still alive. But the ones who had said of how unsure they were of coming out well, were no longer alive. Someone who had not heard them speak would conclude that why would they lose their lives even after giving a go to live. But their response to the question asked earlier, had given death the license to take their life.
What are you saying with your mouth? Are you speaking life or death? Friends, we are responsible for shaping our lives. And one way we do that is through our words. What we say is what we get, so we need to be careful what we say. You can't go about speaking negatively and expect to see positives. No! When we speak positively, we will see good. Our text says we will eat the fruit of what we say—death or life.
We need to realize that our words affect how our life turns out. Where we are today is a result of what we have spoken prior to now. And where we would be tomorrow is a result of the words we are speaking today. We need to make up our mind that no matter what, we will consistently speak positives and not negatives; blessings and not curses; success and not failure; peace and not the trouble; prosperity and not lack; progress and not stagnation. We need to choose our words wisely. As you make this decision, realize that God's grace is available to put your tongue under control.
