I was definitely going to participate in this contest "I have the best Mum in the World". My pleasure as I take you through the lane as I present my post.
Who is your Mum
My incorruptible mum is a disciplinarian and a God-fearing woman who all her life till date is hardworking and contented with all she has. She is from Isuikwuato in Abia state and also got married in the same local government of origin in the late 70s. She is really blessed with four (4) children (two girls & boys) in same proportion with all of us all having Northern place of birth. She relocated to the northern area of the country with her husband immediately after her (their) wedding. I know she was accomplished with the grace of having children and with all gender represented in her desired ratio. I happen to be her first son but her second child.
What does my Mum do
She is a retired head-teacher. A confirmed teacher with all the professionalism that was required. This distinctive quality saw her through the different strata of the teaching profession until her retirement as a head-mistress in different Govt primary schools in the state. She started her teaching career from Abia state, relocated to the Northern area and then still came back to Abia.
Being a child of a teacher (Shaking my head), i think only few can relate. It was so tasking while growing up but all the same it was for our good. It was for us to be shaped properly then but for the future. I could remember vividly when my cousin was deported down to my house (reformation center) to stay with us since he had continuously exhibited acts of stubbornness. He got a brain reset as requested from his parents for the period under review before he went back. Anyway Story for another day.
Special sacrifices From Mum
The sacrifices I got from my Mum are countless. We the children got countless sacrifices from her. She really do deserve to be rewarded all the steem value gotten from this post as my continuous show of love towards her. I cannot repay her all she did for us but we will continue to strive to put smiles back on those face.
I can remember when i almost lost this life while growing up. I had an injury that degenerated into tetanus after i must have forgotten that i had an injury because it has healed. I started having muscular stiffness in the jaw (i.e, lockjaw ), followed by neck stiffness and difficulty swallowing. I didn't know what it was as a child, only what i did was to run to Mum and complained i was having those symptoms. It was a terrible experience then because it happened during the yuletide season at the village (we had difficulty accessing the Local Govt General hospital due to distance). Thank-God for the recent reforms in the health sector where basic primary health-care is at almost every door step.
[She showed up despite the ENDSARS induced lock-down during Daniel's dedication]
Another scenario that happened pertaining to life saving was that, I was fond of swimming in a particular stream in the neighborhood. I have been warned severally by Mum but will always escort my friends while going but will end up joining them (the life of a child). I was bitten by an insect in the stream that each time i urinate blood flows out from my urine. Initially, i got the beaten that could compensate for such disobedience and then a family Doctor immediately saw to its treatment.
Or was it the one i swallowed 10kobo while playing with my siblings. No one knew about it, i just have to open up because i was very sure they will ask me for the money, then i was also scared what will happen to me if i doesnt come out from my belle.
Or was it our Education? It was just a miracle.
There are one thousand and one sacrifices one may want to mention but time may not allow me list all here.
Difficult situations Faced by Mum
It was a handful just like the year-2020 who is busy dishing out the unexpected. I know i didn't mention that Mum only enjoyed a decade of her union before the demise of her husband in a car accident. This particular event brought a complete turnaround of life expectation for everyone. It was a situation i wouldn't wish for anyone, not even my enemies.
But having a courageous, strong willed, focused, determined and self controlled Mum by our side was the best bet we got. She doggedly push through the welfare, bills and super bills of everyone just to make sure that everyone attended a minimum (degree) academic standard today. It was usually a big fight to remind my uncles that we existed, that every life matters, that we could be responsible beings in future just like their kids... this was a melting point for Mum to strive harder.
Her husband's gratuity was paid, and she floated a mini clothing business which sustained the home as we tarried in all spheres of life. Wish i can explain more explicitly.
Just like the saying, no one knows what processes the gold goes through to become the gold we cherished and buy expensively . All what matters is the end result. For us, We are a better end product of a terribly rough days.
What unique qualities of your mum would you want to copy
I have already copied many that were injected into me by default. These are the few I can remember for now.
- Hardworking (She will always say, do your best in whatsoever that has been entrusted in your care diligently and with maximum commitment)
- Contentment ( This is another unique attribute that has since sustained me)
- High managerial and Saving skills ( Most of the saving ideas i have today is from Mum. As a teacher, her managerial and planning capabilities are second to none. So i did learn that 100% )
- Honesty and Upright, etc
Conclusion
There are more interesting things yet to be unveiled. Maybe a relaunched of this contest will be another opportunity to flow.
Thank you guys for reading through my story line.
I want to say a big thank you to all those anchoring and supporting this contest
