Personal thoughts: HOW MUCH DO YOU VALUE YOURSELF BY @yuceetoria

It was after listening to a conference programme led by my Mentor that I started reflecting over my life. We pass on through lots of opportunities that we didn't even know was there in the first place.

Many at times during a challenging period in our life we choose someone to put the blame on.

  • Lack of Job, we say it is our leaders.
  • In school we fail a course we blame our lecturers
  • At work when we fail to deliver we blame our colleague or work environment.

But the question is are we really putting in a lot of efforts in making our situation better, and this brings me to my topic: do you really know who you are and how much do you value that person that you are. I will be using Bible verse to back up my post.

How much do you value yourself.

The first question that should be asked when the above is brought up should be do you love yourself. In God's commandment, one of the major rules are; Love your neighbor as you love yourself. So that brings me back to the present, do you love/value yourself? The society might not give us what we expect, it is up to us to carve out how our future would be like. What we envision about it.

Mrs Ibukun Awosika in one of her talks gave questions to reflect on.

  • Where are you right now?
  • Who do you think you are? What is the view or personal convinction of who you are?
  • Where do you think you are going?
  • If you don't know where you are going, how are you going to get there?

Be mindful, do not answer this questions freely, you must sit, reflect on this questions before you give it a go.

Always remember God's promises to you in Jeremiah 2 Vs 5a; Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee. God has already know that you were going to be great, so be ready to take your rightful place.
Jeremiah 29 Vs 11; For I know the thoughts that I have towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil to give you an expected end.

With these you should not be scared of overtaking the world, you should not devalue yourself for another to take over. It is yours to take charge.

This words I tell myself too, some times I feel as though I can't not achieve anything and I am just wasting my time but going through this verses I remind myself that these words and promises are God's and he does not go back on them. If I can only believe them and bind them to my memories, then I know that whatever I am doing is my own betterment. No matter how the society is, no matter how much the society tries to beat us down, as long as you know who you are, then you will rise above all obstacles because you are determined not to be deterred. Because you have outlined what you want to achieve and nothing is going to stop it.

When we start seeing and presenting ourselves as precious gold, I bet you People will also start seeing you like that. It is how you you present yourself to people that they will take you, no questions asked.

CONCLUSION

The above questions are what we should reflect everyday of our lives. Is your present situation good or bad? What steps can be taken to better it. We shouldn't always sit down and be given handouts, learn to break free from the shackles that bounds our mindset about ourselves.
