Before explaining the business with the Blockchain application, we must establish a context about the companies. Starting with the Russian company, ALROSA. This is the largest diamond company in the country, being the largest producer and distributor of the frozen territory.

Then we met WeChat, which is the largest communications platform in China. However, it is a pioneer in the research and development of Blockchain applications.

For this reason, it is these two companies who are undertaking negotiations using innovative technologies such as Blockchain.

Everledger support

However, this business with Blockchain should be mentioned that there is support from a third party, which is an expert in Blockchain technology. The assistant in this case was Everledger, who made public through his Twitter:

“Diamond traceability to the power of a billion! Today we announce with @ALROSA_official the introduction of a WeChat Mini program for Chinese jewelry manufacturers and retailers. ”

Highlighting that ALROSA requested Everledger's support for its experience in Blockchain technology. The Russian company said the e-commerce solution will be developed together with the Everledger technology company. The software will demonstrate "the power of Blockchain technology", allowing traceability from the mine to the consumer.

According to ALROSA, consumers will be offered unprecedented levels of transparency and trust around the origin, characteristics and authenticity of the jewelry they buy.

“We are delighted to support this Mini WeChat Program with Everledger, as it reinforces our search for sustainable mining and transparent supply chain information. Chinese consumers will be sure of the origin of their diamonds, ”said ALROSA diamond chief Pavel Vinikhin.

"We believe that demonstrating the complete provenance of our diamonds on the most popular social media platform will help us further strengthen our sales base in China," he added.

Consumers will be able to use the so-called WeChat Mini Program on their smartphones to verify the complete provenance of an individual diamond and the unique certificate information, buy the diamond using WeChat Pay and also attest to their property through the Everledger Blockchain platform .

“This is an innovative initiative with the titans of the diamond and Internet industries. We are pleased to partner with ALROSA, as we share the same goal of allowing greater transparency to the market, ”said Evgeny Gokhberg, Director of Europe at Everledger.
