The United States is falling behind in the technological race and this includes blockchain. While China has fully embraced blockchain as part of its 5 year technological initiative as set out by President Xi, the U.S. continues to behave like this is just another day in the park.

There is absolutely no regulatory clarity when it comes to blockchain or cryptocurrency. It is a situation that is only worsening as other countries see the opportunity to get more aggressive with it. This is causing companies to start relocating with start ups happening outside the U.S.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about Dan, he is one of the most recognizable faces in blockchain/cryptocurrency and has spent a great deal of time thinking about governance and regulatory matters.

The ideals of this gathering seem aligned with what those of us in the crypto world discuss. However, the bigger question is does anyone in Washington care. K-Street is filled with lobbyists from the banking industry, spreading an enormous amount of wealth around.

Personally, I think we need to do the dance to keep them occupied while we keep the development going. That is the Golden Goose: create enough projects and applications for people to use while erecting a completely new system that operates fully independent of them.

This should be the main goal.

I wish they would just give guidance already or say they’re leaving well enough alone to at least let businesses feel comfortable starting a business that they feel is legitimate and legal.
