Introduction

Hello steemians of steem for ladies community, it is my pleasure to be participating in this activity by @ngoenyi. For my entry I will be teaching us how to prepare delicious yam porridge on a budget. You don't need to break the bank to prepare something nice for yourself in this hard economy.
As a plus I made a video of some of the steps I took to arrive at the final results. The final cooking time took me about 47 minutes.

Ingredients for preparing porridge yam with vegetable

  • 1 tuber of yam
  • fresh vegetable leaf
  • fresh pepper
  • onion
  • crayfish
  • Maggi
  • salt and
  • red oil

Step by step preparation


Step 1

First step is to peel the yam, wash the yam and put it inside the pot with some cups of water ,then set it on top of fire.

Step 2

Second step, prepare and grind some of the ingredients like pepper, crayfish and Maggi, then cut the onion, also cut the vegetable, in preparing this ingredients make sure you wash them with salt

Step 3

Third step, right now the yam is already boiling , now you can add some of the ingredients like pepper, crayfish, Maggi, salt, and red oil inside the boiling yam; then turn and cover the yam to boil for like 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 4

Right now the yam porridge is getting ready, open it, turn it again and again to thicken the water of the yam porridge, then add the vegetable and turn it again, once the water of the yam is tick , cover the pot ,and boil it for some minutes, and bring it down .

The yam porridge is ready to be served. You can serve it as a single meal.

Nutritional benefits of Yam porridge

Yam porridge offers various nutritional benefits:

  1. Carbohydrates: Yam is a known rich source of carbohydrates, carbohydrate are energy giving food which provides energy to fuel our daily activities.

  2. Dietary Fiber: Yam also contains dietary fiber, its function is to aid digestion, promotes bowel regularity, and helps manage weight by promoting a feeling of fullness.

  3. Vitamins: Yam contains vitamins like vitamin C, which boosts the immune system, and B-complex vitamins, which support metabolism and nerve function.

  4. Minerals: Yam porridge provides essential minerals like potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure and maintain proper heart function, and manganese, which is important for bone health and metabolism.

  5. Protein: Depending on the ingredients added to the porridge, it can also contain protein, essential for building and repairing tissues in the body. For this my food the only source of protein was the crayfish.

Conclusion

I would conclude by staying that yam porridge can be a nutritious and satisfying meal when prepared with wholesome ingredients and balanced with food from other groups. It can be combined easily with other food groups. Always add vegetables to your meal to get alot of minerals.

First of all congratulations for sharing a very delicious recipe with us. I thought it was a type uof aloo, but we don't have such aloo here in Pakistan, but there are some different ones.
