Keyboard Warriors and Online Hate Speech

Man is a social animal. He needs to be constantly remain in touch with other humans every now and then.

The age of social media has made it very easy to interact with other humans without moving out of the house. People connect with their Ioved ones through chat or videos calls. It surely provides a way to enhance our well being by spreading positivity on the online platforms.

But then, it has also resulted in online troll and hate speech towards other fellow humans.

Before social media, when an immature person tried to speak ill of others, he would be immediately hush hush by his elders(those having more wisdom than them).

But on social media these trollers have got a free hand, thinking of themselves as intellectual people,to criticise and troll others without any logic. Above all without getting a punch on their face.

They took advantage of their anonymous identity to spit illogical statements, they themselve don't know about. In real life, such people wouldn't dare to do so, because someone will definitely gonna pull the shit out of their retarded brains.

These people call themselves keyboard Warrior who hide behind their keyboards while maintaining their anonymity.

They target people who are doing great and big than themselves.
They target mostly celebrities, politicians, public figures, and content creators.

How to identify keyboard warrior?
Through their comments which are:

• Not relevant
• Without any logic
• Full of negativity

Recently, i came across a post of our actress, being called FAT on the pictures she posted after becoming a new mom. We expect our female celebrities to drink a magic potion and get back their slim bodies right after delivering their baby, which is humanly not possible if they're feeding their babies.

However, these keyboard warrior don't understand such things and post rubbish comments online without any relevance to the actual post.

Another hate speech which our young CSS officer gets on social media, on sharing his work life on instagram. He became a civil officer after cracking the most difficult exam.
People call him sifarshiya (briber) and a burden on the economy of our country. Just because he is a govt officer getting paid from our tax money, it doesn't mean that he deserves the hate.

He just laughs his heart out as if saying to these troll: so what about you jerks? Come and grab this seat after working hard, rather than bashing others who are ahead of you in their professions.

But the trolls will blame others and circumstances for their own failures.

As i live in the Islamic republic of Pakistan, i see a lot of keyboard warriors teach Muslim women about our religion by saying:

• Cover your body(head to toe)
• Make gol roti (round bread)
• Don't get education
• Get married, obey your husband, have children and die.

If she fails to do so she would be branded as Slut who is spreading vulgarity with her bare body. I don't get these trolls, if you (boys) are that bothered with such women then stopping seeing their profiles. Rather focus on becoming a good person who respects every women despite the length of their clothes.

It's that simple.

Then comes the politicians who are not naive at all but they don't deserve their character assassination in response to their statements on corruption, national, and geo political issues.

Haters of one of our national hero and former Prime minister, always call him a play boy and Jewish agent. All just for standing on his firm stance on corruption and religion.

The answer to any political statement should be political and logical, and not a direct attack on their character.

I know people commit sins or used to commit sins in the past. If they're changing and becoming religious, preaching it openly, then it doesn't make them hypocrate.

However, some people are so sensitive to such issues that they wouldn't think for a second to call them KAFIR(person out of our religion).

^{If i say that no one has gone through the level of character assassination on digital media as our former PM, it wouldn't be wrong. But he didn't retaliate to such non sense and kept doing his work(now he is in jail though)}

Big celebrities and politicians don't bother such trolls because:

A lion doesn't concern itself with the opinion of sheep."

They key to deal with keyboard warrior is to:

• Ignore them
• Block them
• Reply with kindness

When you know the psychology of the keyboard warriors and trolls it will be easier to deal with them.

They create an online mayhem everywhere they go

These warriors usually don't have any successes in their life. They are anti-social, have no one to listen them in real life, that's why they fight over patty things online to get attention.

They are emotionally immature people who don't use the prefrontal cortex of their brain. Whose purpose is to help us in decision making and thinking before acting. Hence, they act without any locus of control.

They act on their impulses compulsively.

An ideal person's prefrontal cortex develops at the age of 25, however, some adults still live without using their brains. You can see them in their 30s, 40s, and even 50s, judging others for the things they don't know a thing about.

Age is just a number when it comes to intelligence, kindness, and emotional maturity.

If you come across these trolls, ignore them, don't feed them your attention, and retaliate (if crucial) with kindness.
