WIND OF REVENGE

As a kid, I witnessed the constant warfare between the Aleena and the Zanda. They routinely eliminated all the troops and swept them away, just like a cyclone sweeps away dirt and debris. As I became older, I realised that I had to become a warrior to revenge the slaughter of my people at the hands of the wind.

For the magnificent people of Zanda, I volunteered to be their battle leader when I was 27 years old. It had always been my ambition to lead an army into war, and now that I was filled to the brim with vengeance, neither the earth's winds nor the sky's thunder could stop me.

In the presence of my army general, Aleto, and other men, I galloped back to my castle.
Even though our small win didn't seem like much at the time, it meant a great deal to many people in Zanda.

I lost a lot of young soldiers in the fight to break the siege that had been imposed on our country's eastern border for the previous three months and to prevent further incursion into our territory. I wasn't over the moon about it.

The castle maids and staff greeted me with "you're welcome, your majesty...your majesty..." as I made my way through the halls and across the balconies. I could only nod in recognition of their presence.

After retiring to my inner chambers, I sent word for General Aleto and two other captains to come to my aid.

Someone asks, "How many men did we lose?" When the healer extracted the iron-tipped spear from my arm, I clinched my teeth and moaned in anguish as I nibbled my lower lip.

Aleto guessed around 100.

"Oh!" At that, I said, "fuck!" There were tears in my "one hundred!" Again, I'm sorry.

Aleto repeated, "One hundred."

We will have a vigil tomorrow night when the moon is full to honour the spirits of our fallen heroes, I added in a weak voice.

The troops said, "Yes, my queen," and waited.

There was still something lacking. For some reason, I felt that a part of me was missing. I looked around frantically as if I'd dropped something. My eyes flew from one man to the next before landing on Aleto, and the idea came to me, "Temba!"

When someone asks, "Where's Temba?" The healer had already given up by this point because of the manner I was flexing my arms.

They haven't found a way to explain where he is, he told his distraught queen.

I pushed down the fright that was rising in my stomach.

I choked out, "what?"

But, he continued hastily, "we're still looking for survivors on the battlefield, my queen."

Locate him, Aleto! Locate him! My eyes were wide as I issued the order. He pounded his chest and stomped off.

I heard the castle speaker on the other side of the door say, "emmissaries for the queen" as a soft wrap sounded on the door.

I told my head maid, "Kala, see to their hospitality."

She sped out to carry out my orders.

Men, assemble in the main hall! "I shall address them shortly," I said the stocky captain who was standing by my dresser.

The answer is "yes, my queen."

As soon as I was alone, I burst into silent tears. My country was becoming a wasteland, and I could do nothing to stop it.
