I’m saying hello to every Steemian especially my beautiful friends and ladies in this awesome community. Well, my choice for this week is “Question”.
A question can be something, a written word or something you say in order to ask for someone, something or just to know anything you want to know. A question can be written or said. At the same time, a question can serve just like an inquiry to know more about a particular thing. Generally, a question is supposed to deserve or call for an answer but there are some questions that does not call for an answer and they are called rhetorical questions.
This may be quite easy. Firstly, the two best ways to know that a sentence is a question is if it asks for something. In written sentences, a question is generally supposed to have a mark called the question mark “?”. Aside from the fact that the speaker of the sentence may be demanding something or asking for something, another best way to know a written question is if there is a question mark. Examples of questions are:
Where are you going to?
Are you at home?
Do you go to school?
As portrayed in these sentences, it should be known that the speaker is trying to make an inquiry or know more about something.
Also, when it comes to spoken sentences, the best way to know a question is the tone of the speaker. There is something called intonation. When someone asks a question, the general rule is that the tone of the person will go up when asking a question but when making a statement, the tone can be straightforward which is not low nor high.
In English Language or in the English world, we have so many types of questions. They are:
• Open-ended question
This question comes in form of surveys. The respondents are required to type whatever comes to their mind in the box.
• Closed-ended question
This type of question is mostly used to gather some particular kinds of data from the respondents. They are mostly quantitative datas.
• Multiple choice question
These are questions which gives you a wide numbers of options and you can choose any of those options.
• Yes and no question
These kinds of questions requires you to give an answer which is based on just yes or no. The answers are not meant to be more than that.
• Rhetorical question
Thai kind of question does not demand an answer. They are mostly asked to mimic the illness of the society.
• Likert scale question
This kind of question is mostly based on market research. It is also like a survey question but targeted on marketers.
• Leading question
This type of question is one that hints the respondent to answer in a particular way.
• Tag questions
Tag questions are questions that always have a tag on them whenever they are being asked.
• Divergent question
This kind of question has no particular answer. They always have a wide range of answers which is based on individual knowledge.
• Recall and process question
This is a kind of question that is based on people recalling or trying to remember the things that has happened before.
• Affective questions
This is mostly between students and teachers and they are asked to know how the students feel about what they are learning.
As we all know, my choice for this week is questions and I hope I did justice to it. I would also love to know the choices of my two friends and they are @adunni and @adaeze.
