Contest | "Tell your Story #35"

Hello friends welcome to my blog.

I met a woman two days ago who told her story, and this story has got me thinking about so many things women go through. Whenever I see any woman, I begin to imagine what she could be going through or have gone through behind that beautiful dress and smile.

What happened

Earlier this week, I visited an electronic device store to get an item. I have known the seller before, and now she is my friend and a reliable place to buy from. When I got there, I bought what I came for. I was in a hurry to leave, so it was quickly brought out from the package, tested, and it was fine I left immediately. In the evening, when I wanted to use it, it wasn't working properly. I reached out to the seller to complain to her, asking her if it could be fixed or changed, and she asked me to come to the store the next so she could check it herself.

The next day, I went to the store with my faulty newly bought device. It was checked and happened to be a factory faulty, and I was given a new one that works perfectly well. After that, I was talking with my friend, who happens to be the owner of the store, when an elegant, beautiful lady came in to buy from the store.

While she was sitting and being attended by the sales ladies, she began to smile over the discussion I was having with my friends; that was how she joined in our discussion and felt free to talk with us about herself.

She began by telling us how she has suffered a lot in training her children with a husband who doesn't care about her and the children, she said they could stay days without feeding or not feeding well. She could not stand seeing her children suffer, so that made her indulge in some immoral acts just to make money, there are sometimes, after getting involved in some of these wrong acts to make money, she is paid peanuts.

While doing all that, she knew they were wrong, and she cried all night, feeling guilty and remorseful of her actions because they contradicted her moral values, but she could not stop because she needed to survive with her kids. She lived her life that way for some time. Until she came in contact with a person who she called her God-sent. It's a man who saw her one day when she was crying and wanted to end it all.

Her God-sent asked her if she could work for him, and she accepted; she said she was ready to get genuine work no matter the pay. The man employed her, and she became one of the man's sales reps. Her new place of work deals with importing goods from abroad and distribution to large sellers. It was not a stressful one. All she did was monitor the transaction.

She said when she received her first pay, it was the highest pay she had gotten in her life; she was excited and fulfilled to be paid for genuine work done. That was how she continued her job up till date, she has grown to the head salesperson and has made good money from the job.

She has a foundation where she helps lots of people; and paid school fees for kids whose parents can't afford to send them to school because that was one of the challenges she faced in the past, she said that could lead parents to make money negatively just to provide for the kids. she showed us some videos and pictures of her foundation on her cell phone. While she was there, people called in to say thank you for the help she had rendered to them. But she said she still feels the shame and guilt of her past actions; that's why she is open to speaking about it, so she gets to let it all out.

She has also resorted to helping people with her resources, and would not want any woman to go through her ordeal. So, she is supportively assisting and empowering other women based on her own experiences.

What you have learned from it

I learnt from her story that everyone has their battles despite their looks. A person can change their lifestyle and make a better choice regardless of their past way of life, and there is also hope that help can show up in difficult circumstances.

However, what I admire most about her is her approach to helping people with the same circumstances as hers, understanding their struggles because she has once been in their shoes and the need to support them in prevailing over life's challenges.

I invite @thaizmaita, @rossnenye and @sduttaskitchen to participate in this contest.
