Contest:Tell your story#30(Healing from Trauma)

Good morning Steemians and thank you for this wonderful opportunity to participate in this contest

This story is an experience that happened to a friend of mine. My friend grew up from a religious background and she was trained to live an upright life . While growing up her dad who was someone that loves to help people whenever they were stranded had alot of people in his house who he catered for. They had alot of people staying with them who was not their relative and her dad having an open mind never thought any of them could harm his children after all he was helping them,but he never knew one of them was abusing his child(my friend) She never told her parents due to fear but that particular fellow later left the house which ended the abuse.

She was always an introvert, withdrawn and never spoke out. She grew up and she continued that way.She was always scared to speak up, afraid what people will think of her and that left her not being able to express herself. She never thought that all that was happening to her was a result from her childhood experiences. But God's mercy brought her to a place of brokenness and she began to realize that her problems started from her childhood and she needed to deal with the root cause before she can ever be free.

She started addressing the issue one after the other. Opening old wounds is not easy but she needed to do it, in order to address the problem from the root. She forgave where she needed to and gradually those wounds started healing and she was able to come out of all the traumatic experiences she had and her life started moving in the direction she wanted. My friend who knew that other persons are also facing what she faced, created an outreach program to help people deal with wounds buried within bringing about negative experiences in a person's life.

She never knew that a childhood experience that she taught she had moved past could affect her even down to adulthood and from that point she realized purpose and she has helped alot of girls who have gone through trauma and have not healed to come out of it.
