The Cupid

Among the items in the forty-fifth "What will it be?" Challenge, the Cupid stands out and that is why I selected it.
The Cupid is one among the many methodological figures in the Greek mythology. For a little bit of genealogy, the Cupid's father is Mars, the god of war and his mother is Aphrodite, also known as Venus, the goddess of beauty and love. I would say it's an odd combination, but it would take us off the focus of this writing.

Cupid is often depicted as a winged baby boy with very little-to-no clothing and is distinguished by the bow and arrow he is holding. That should not be a surprise because his father is the god of war.

Cupid himself is the god of desire, erotic love, attraction, and affection. He should have been born in the middle of the month of February that is because the Cupid is well known for causing people to fall in love when he shoots them with his arrow.

The Cupid and Valentine's day

In the mythology there is no connection between the Roman priest known as Saint Valentine who the Valentine's day was named after. This prist is said to have performed some secret marriages for young people who were in love.
Because the Cupid shoots people into love, the Valentine's day have adopted the cupid as it's icon.
Sent Valentine may have been possessed by the Cupid or it played a role influencing his action.

The Cupid and relationship coach

A dating coach that works as a matchmakers will have to worship at the alter of the Cupid so as to be more effective at his job of helping people find love and stay in love.

The picture above is a manifestation of the cupid on active duty. It's hard to find and maintain love this days and the cupid needs to work overtime to keep people in relationships.

Eris; The perfect foil for Cupid.

From My point of view, Eris is doing a better job when compared with the work of Cupid. We are having more breakups and divorced people. A result of the crafty work of Eris.
If you do not work on maintaining your relationship, then Eris who is the opposite of Cupid will quickly step in and introduce conflict and dissension and she is good at what she does.
I think Cupid should be made to understand that relationships this days requires a lot of maintenance and just connecting people is not enough. Eris is always around to break them apart and she is not just passing, she is thorough.

If the Cupid has linked you, keep Eris away.

Once you have a true connection with the person you love, beware that Eris is always working overtime and she is very motivated.
She will try to break you apart as soon as possible. And Eris is very persistent in her efforts. So if you want your love to last. Work hard to keep Eris away.

You can't really blame this on cupid, he is always too young to know how this grownups things work. When he is of age, he will be doing a better job. But for now, let his arrows fly. And may it match you well.
