STALL!!!!!!

A kiosk I mean to say! In Nigeria, an average person knows it as a kiosk, some thick Igbos' in Nigeria will even call it a shade!

A stall is a very small scale supermarket we're you a group of people settled in a geographical area can asset their very basic need for a price a little bit higher than the market price!

It comes in handy for an emergency and it saves you so much time and stress of going to an actual market which may be miles away!

One good advantage of a stall is that the stall owners are usually familiar with the residents of that locality and for that reason, one common practice there is selling things on credit to the buyers or stall keeper owing the buyers some change to pay later or balance up with their goods the next time the buyer wants to buy!

In these stall/kiosk/shade, they majorly sell provisions like biscuits, milk, mio, bar soap, toilet soap, salt, Maggi, sweets, garri, dry pepper, toilet tissue, drinks etc!

One thing most stall keeper enjoy in several localities in Nigeria is monopoly and that to an extent contributes to the major problem with store keepers which is pride, nonchalant and.
lackadaisical attitudes as well as gross incompetence!

One basic attribute of a stall keeper that would succeed is diligence, humility, focus, consistency and selflessness!

  • Every stallkeeper needs to be very disciplined to not run down the business! Because the things in the store are human basic needs the store keeper needs to have the discipline of insisting that the accounts are always balanced,
  • insist that the debtors pay,
  • insist that every customer that comes to the store leaves satisfied,
  • must be human enough to sell their goods at a very reasonable price, not overly hiked!
  • Be punctual
  • Be friendly
Growing up, I once had a chance to help a neighbour who was a stall keeper for one week! It was a very exciting experience for me then as a 12 years old girl!

The most interesting part is when i have to search for what the client wants and when 1 have to do a little maths to get the total cost of what they bought and their change!

I enjoyed my stay their for 1 week but the one part I disliked so much was when irresponsible customers who are so shameless to make suggestive gestures at a minor which was very common in the area where I grew up in Lagos state Nigeria.

Not that I blame them, because most people in the stores around my area have the habit of not just selling their goods but also their bodies for a little extra cash!

The business indeed has money, just that the money comes in trickles and will need a high level of discipline and patience to see a very good return!

Hope you enjoyed my story and experience with a stall some years back.

Oh yes, you get all kinds of people visiting stalls. It's like a restaurant. Best of all, the client is always right. I know it is true, but I always found it hard to understand when I still had restaurants.

Best wishes!

PS: It is always good to mention that the images belong to you.

I would take note of that for next time.

Well customer are always right but not in all cases because going with customer are always right without a balance, would give room for so many rubbish.
